Yes, I realise that. Worth a try, though, being as BG have told me, after the event, that they are my supplier but haven't told me on what terms. They'll get something, presumably, as the switch won't happen until the 28th. It may be a bargaining chip to get them to, at least, match Green's price.

On 28th August I contacted PFP to ask for a refund of over £1000. This was agreed and I can see from my Account Summary that they have 'refunded' a similar amount out of my energy account(31 Aug) but this has not been credited to my bank account (from which the DD came out of) nor have I received any cheque. So, I don't have the money and my Summary shows that I've been credited. What the heck can I do about it because when my details go over to British Gas my account will be incorrect. I also arranged to transfer my electricity account over to PFP so I guess that's not happening now and thanks to the same T&Cs not being given by British Gas will be stuck with paying more than I would, even by transferring to another provider. Why oh why has Ofgem lumbered us with British Gas until they can be bothered to contact us?0

The refund will come from PFP, in the form of a cheque.. Presuming you have rightly stopped the DD

Email from British Gas today advising I am their customer from 10th Sept, yet Ofgem advise BG become the supplier today, 11th. A 40 minute online "chat" with BG resulted in multiple transfers to wrong departments despite being clear in what I needed to know. I see nothing has changed and BG are worse than they ever were. I have started a switch to Octopus, hope it goes through. Really not bothered about how long it takes to refund my credit balance, according to BG FAQ's in the email they advise not switching just now to avoid delays in credit refund. I'm happier to lose, or have £80 substantially delayed rather than suffer again at the hands of British Gas, they make NPower look like angels!0

The email from BG said they would be setting up an account shortly.. As I refuse to go to BG, I will not be setting up any account with them.. Last time this happened, SP never set up the account, as the switch to PFP beat them... as a result, SP didn't charge anything, as I was technically never with them.

I fully understand why some are rushing to switch now, just be aware that there are two possible failure modes if you switch before your BG account is created.#1 The switch gets blocked because the bulk transfer is already in progress - This one is annoying but not messy, you just have to wait a little until the BG account transfer is complete then switch again..#2 Your switch appears to go through but the bulk transfer process runs anyway and you get switched back from your new supplier soon afterwards. This one is really messy and will take some time to unravel.#2 is why they advise people to wait, but as long as you know the risks then of course you can do as you please. The other potential disadvantage of switching is the accounts of ex-customers are the very last ones to be reconciled and get refunded so it could be a few months before you get the money back.3

A little while back I got an offer from EDF for £50 which went up to £75 if I switched before 10th October. Wasn't interested at the time as bound to much higher than PFP. Tried today with the supplied link and surprise, surprise all the deals they can offer don't qualify! Hate energy companies particularly the big 6 cartel!0

So who are people moving to?
Tempted to just go with EDF as an interim for 2 - 3 months, tired of these small suppliers, £75 bill credit makes up for some of the increase, nearly double on the day rate, night rate isn't too bad
Even places like neon reef aren't that far off with 5p less on day rates but 5p more on night rates, symbio with their same night / day rates won't work out much different given higher night usage around the corner with storage heaters
See if prices come down, although they'll likely increase anyway, awful time to switch

I think it is high time that Ofgem sorted out 2 things:
Same day switching.
Pre warn customers of a supplier in serious financial trouble (they know but say nothing!)1 -

I think OFGEM need to revamp the whole process... especially "forcing" you to accept a certain supplier... you may have valid reasons why this is unacceptable..
A better way would be to inform you to make a switch to a new provider of your choice, and keep the current tariff going until the switch, then sort out the finances with the administrators etc..
