f0xh0les said:Blimey it is hot out! 24 degrees, but was probably hotter sat in my car waiting for kids. After all, some idiot made it out of metal.Kids awful, Monday school run over, 2 hours of volunteering left to do tonight - I am reaching the end of my rope with it all, I think. Boarding school seems like a very nice option this afternoon.I have been researching solar panels and batteries. I am utterly terrified I am going to screw up my roof, and screw up the electrics, and just get it all horribly wrong. I blame that utter #@**£ Nick Knowles for putting the fear of god into anyone who needs a builder for the last 25 years.
Yes, very jealous of boarding school parents sometimes.

Evening turtles, NSD number 3 here. Quiet day (again) at work, just doing online training which isn't exactly the most stimulating thing in the world.
Laid some vinyl tiles in the bathroom as it wasn't too strenuous on my back, just involved sitting on the floor and spraying them with adhesive spray. I'd already cut the annoying ones to go around the toilet. Now just need to finish by cutting the annoying ones to go around the sink but that's a job for another day. Really pleased with how it's looking, a whole new floor for less than £50! Sadly we still need new carpets and I can't do those myself lol.

Thanks - it worked, now in September. Sorry about the quotes earlier. I had written a 'ways to show self-compassion' list (not more things to do, just a reminder of nice things to do for yourself when you're struggling), then something else and was part way through the September part of a foraging calendar, then my post disappeared, went back to find the originals, couldn't but saw a couple of other things, thought they were worth sharing, came back here and put the heading in, went back - GONE.
So a bit of a muddled day (I was walking round a strange town in my nightdress in the early hours of the morning, I'll have you know). Did a bit of research comparing ingredients between the drink I'm alright with and the substitute. Some common ingredients but one that's much higher in the list on the bad one can make things worse for people with sleep problems, anxiety or any other mental health problem, and the acids are different. Bad one's acid is not a problem except for people with PKU. Phosphorous, which we need (works with calcium to build strong bones) but has been put through a couple of chemical changes and if the phosphorous/ calcium balance isn't right can lead to kidney problems, osteoporosis. Didn't pursue comparing against my list of medicines.
Anyhow a bit of a wake up call. Safest thing would be to cut out brown drinks altogether but may have to work up to that in stages. None at all until Wednesday as that's when I'm having a delivery. Checked available slots and Wednesday afternoon was the cheapest before Sunday afternoon unless I go for a 10 pm - 11 pm delivery - don't fancy ferreting around in the dark, bringing everything in through mum's room as bringing it through the side door will set off the eldercare alarm (and telling mum she can't go to bed till I'm done.
Have decided to buy up to the limit of 115 items I'm allowed but stretch deliveries to one every 10 days (with the SM that saw us through the pandemic). I have spent nearly all my food budget for the month but a lot of it is not for use this month so will have to determine how much goes under future months. A lot of meat and cheese too (therefore expensive). Mum is getting better so her cheese (and cracker) intake will start going up, so bought double ups of most things and will freeze one of each. Mum has had a Wilting farm foods delivery so I've ordered a few easy options for me (in the food delivery). Writing lists of things to restock soon. We have packs of frozen broccoli and cauliflower and transferred frozen carrots from my freezer to mum's to replace the ones we finished off with Sunday dinner.
I have a few spaces in my freezer and I can pack a lot of meat and cheese into a small space (will decant into freezer bags and take it out as required). My lunch was again mostly piled vegetables with a few leftover noodles and sauce. I did a little cleaning in the bathroom, emptied and cleaned out the salad drawer in here (I love it, it's a whole drawer not one of those titchy half things with a motor at the back) and I can mostly see what's in the fridge (will have a little sort now there's space). I'm mostly using my fridge/ freezer as back up and restock mum's as things are eaten. I also put milk on my order as despite complaining that we were getting too much, mum is now using all 8 pints a week so I can't have blancmange or make my lemon drizzle cake (or anything else that uses milk).
This evening I've been outside for an hour. Last night I emptied the contents of the large water butt into 2 l bottles, loaded them all on the trolley and walked round the garden emptying them onto beds and containers. Then went to the tap and refilled them all but only watered mum's chrysanthemum and the climbing rose I bought for her birthday. Today I've emptied the rest onto the parts of the garden I didn't reach. I also tied a courgette plant onto the top of the fence (we have two growing from a large container in the back corner - both are 8' + long and showing no signs of stopping and one was trying to go into next door's garden and the other over the back fence onto the drive ). I also harvested a few small potatoes from along the back fence. Pegged out the bag of rags and my work jumper (had pulled them out of the shed so I could move a cabinet and they've obviously got wet through). Will dry, wash and dry them again.
Grateful for vegetables and leftovers, getting quite a lot done in odd moments, ordering the food (will remember it's really next weekend's delivery but I need the yoghurts - can do a few days without but calcium (while I'm not allowed any of the milk), my sense of humour still working full-time, that I don't sleep walk.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

Yesterday morning I claimed a NSD but we ended up buying lunch from the bakers after DS’s swimming lesson - £6. And OH forgot to deduct £8 for train to football on Saturday. That means today is actually NSD3, not yesterday. And that my Sunday sweep amount was £33, not £47! Grr.Today was a busy and productive day at work. Nowt more interesting than that.Grateful today for waking up naturally without the alarm, morning stillness and quiet, and getting things done at my pace today.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸7

A lovely sunny day. Not a good day at work, physically attacked by a pupil. Delivered the money saved for the garage roof replacement, then had a nap. Lots of sewing done after tea.
Grateful for the weather, hubby cooking tea, not taking as many painkillersUse it up, wear it out
