then he will be like you ask me for advice so I’m telling you as a friend.

I’m just gona tell him, 
it’s hard to get a word in edgeways when he gives lectures, and even when I do he’s dimiss or has fast answers.

and when he’s finished because he’s said so much it’s hard to go back to bad points

Then you need to be specific about what annoys you.

And maybe stop asking him for advice.

What do I say if he brings up how come you not ask me for advice.

it’s not just advice sometimes when I mention things normally he will go on a rant

I think you should read back through everything you've posted on this thread about your friend and decide if he's really worth all the effort and angst.
