I already had a Flex Direct account but, last week, I opened a new Flex account for bonus bagging/donor account purposes. Hard search carried out on new account opening so I was told. They do warn you in advance that it may be inadvisable to proceed if you are looking for credit atm.
The only bank I know that does NOT hard-search you when opening additional accounts is Lloyds / Halifax.
Once you have one current account, you can open second or third account with no search at all. Same with credit cards.
I have 3 Halifax current accounts and 2 credit cards. The only hard search was for the first current account. No more searches, not even soft searches for the other four accounts.

The new switch offer from Nationwide - I'm curious if your still applicable for it if you already have a FlexDirect account and have used a switch offer previously?
I believe I did a switch with them a while ago - but this was waaaaaay back in 2015. Their terms seem to imply you can't, but the way it's worded is a bit ambiguous:
> 10. You also won’t qualify for this offer if:
> You’re switching into a Nationwide account that has already been switched into and benefitted under this offer;
"under this offer" is different to the "offer" I would of originally benefited from. Maybe that's a technicality, but could still be worth trying?
Most switching offers usually set specific timescales, such as stating "haven't benefited from a switch offer in last 2-3 years" etc.

That's why I decided to open new accounts and apply the switches the following day.
All bases covered - belt and braces.

The terms clearly state that you cannot use 'this offer' more than once.
"This offer" only began on 18th August. It is very different from previous Nwide switching offers.
Therefore you have not benefitted from "this offer" before.
This is not ambiguous.6 -
It also says that old accounts (opened prior to this offer) won't qualify.
Oh dear

"You also won’t qualify for this offer if:- you started your application to open a FlexAccount, FlexPlus or FlexDirect current account with us or requested your switch before this offer was made available. This will apply even if that application or switch is completed after this offer is made available. If we withdraw this offer and make it available again in the future, this exclusion will still apply"

If I take out a charity direct debit to get this offer. Does this account need to keep two direct debits going in the long run?0

OK, you're probably right, but Nationwide have a get-out clause if they decide to use it.
And why should existing applications be excluded anyway? Seems a bit harsh.
