Isn't it always a hard search for a new current account - overdraft facility or not (as you can still go into the red).
I agree there may be exceptions - but I have always had a hard search even when I was already a customer (including with Nationwide when I opened extra current accounts). So people should assume there will be a hard search - and be prepared for that in case they are for example about to apply for a mortgage (or have been approved for one). Not an issue for most people though!
Of course if merely switching into an existing Nationwide flexplus/flexdirect - there would be no hard search (as its an existing account).
4th time in this thread - Nationwide tells you if it's a soft search before completing the application for another current ac.
If it doesn't then start assuming.0 -
A long time back I was in the no open accounts, but was a previous customer boat. They issued a new customer number which worked for a while, then they worked out about the previous number and unilaterally resorted to using that; and when they did that I was locked out of my account for a bit.

If those existing current account customers on here who have applied under this offer only got soft searched this time for a second account (and they have checked their credit records to confirm that) then great!
From my experience with their recent £50 bonus ISA offer I am just a bit wary about relying 100% on wording on the NW website!0 -
OK, without reading all the 26 pages...
I have these accounts, all opened in 2018:Does it mean I'm eligible for the £125 bonus if I switch my Tesco account to the existing FlexDirect?I've just set up my Amex DD on the Tesco account and the second DD will be PayPal (if that's ok).
I've never received any switch bonus from NW, only had the 5% interest on FlexDirect.Just cancelled one old PayPal DD that was already set up on my FlexDirect, lol. A new PayPal DD will be transferred over to the same FlexDirect from Tesco after I switch.EPICA - the best symphonic metal band in the world !0 -

I already had a Flex Direct account but, last week, I opened a new Flex account for bonus bagging/donor account purposes. Hard search carried out on new account opening so I was told. They do warn you in advance that it may be inadvisable to proceed if you are looking for credit atm.

I have a query with specific reference to T&C number 10 for this switch offer, where it states:
10 You also won’t qualify for this offer if:
• You started your application to open a FlexAccount, FlexPlus or FlexDirect current account with us or requested your switch before this offer was made available.
I can't see anything on the Nationwide website that officially states when this offer was "made available". Did it definitely start on 18/8/2021? I note that the T&C for this offer is dated "July 2021".
I opened my Nationwide account online on 6/8/2021, and requested a full switch from Tesco Bank (with about 15 Direct Debits) as part of the new account opening process. The switch from Tesco Bank to Nationwide was completed on 20/8/2021.

The full clause you refer to;
You also won’t qualify for this offer if:- you started your application to open a FlexAccount, FlexPlus or FlexDirect current account with us or requested your switch before this offer was made available. This will apply even if that application or switch is completed after this offer is made available. If we withdraw this offer and make it available again in the future, this exclusion will still apply
Based upon that information and the terms and conditions it would appear that unfortunately you don't qualify for the cashback.
