Apologies for the disappearance. It has been a combination of busy and dd using my laptop to stay ahead with her work for sixth form (she's waiting for me to finish typing this so she can have it again). We do have another laptop but it has a teeny screen and I don't like using it - and maybe she doesn't either.
Work has been busy, although I've only done my first proper teaching today. I've had a headache since Monday, which I'm blaming on the weather and doing much more than I usually do. I've been on a bit of a learning curve with an interactive touch screen board in my classroom, being able to have the desks back where I want them, adjusting to a 2 week timetable etc etc etc. So far so good, but there's a long way to go in terms of getting through the year. AND one of the department was in on Monday doing all of our training with us - went home to sick kids on Monday night - positive LFT Tuesday morning followed by a positive PCR. My tests have all been negative so far and I don't have to isolate but it has left me feeling a little wary.
Anyway, on top of work I've been doing my 10000 steps a day minimum. And just because I can do 12km doesn't mean I do 12km - that would take me over 2 hours and I don't have that much time in the day. Maximum is about 8km at the moment and closer to 4 or 5km. So that takes about an hour.
Plus dd is having a bit of a stress adjusting to sixth form. New place, new people, new teachers, new experience and a massive step up. She had a meltdown on Tuesday worrying that she will never make friends etc which really stressed me out. I ended up taking her out on Tuesday night to walk her to another bus stop to catch an earlier bus, then to a cash point to show her how to get cash out, then into a shop to show her how to use her card to pay with her PIN - her contactless had been refused on the bus in the morning and she was fretting that her money had been stolen from her account. So I've spent much of the week worrying about her, but I know that she is going to be fine and just needs time to adjust. And believe it or not, one of her anxiety things is that she won't eat. Unless it's something that I've actually cooked. How's that for blackmail? I hate cooking but she won't eat unless I cook. So I cooked borlotti beans and courgettes on Monday which I thought were a bit ugh but she loved. Then I made coconut dahl and flatbread on Tuesday which I thought was average but she loved. We had leftovers yesterday and today but I fear I'm going to have to sodding cook again before too long. I have a butternut squash in the fridge so will find something to do with that.
On top of that, late meeting night last night... and dd's car being in the garage (again!) so just very little time to turn around. The one thing I am sticking to though is getting to bed at a sensible time. I can handle life better if I've had some ok sleep - hard in this heat but hopefully that won't be too much longer.
Right - best get on now - dd is going to kill me if I don't hand the tech over immediately.
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Coconut dahl and flatbreads sounds pretty good to me too! and just think, you are showing dd that you can hold down a job and be a single mum, and be a domestic goddess (even if you do not enjoy it) and think how much better for her it is to eat home cooked meals without all the processed nonsense - and if food inflation goes the way they are claiming on the news tonight, knowing how to cook a dahl is a life skill we are all going to wish we had!You are doing brilliantly.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

If dd is eating, that is a good thing, no? Does she eat breakfast now?And you are so right to be wary at work. I continue to keep my distance as much as poss. Just cos it's no longer headline stuff doesn't mean the lurgi has read the news and gone away!Take care.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8
