No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Lots of progress being made.
You sound quite hard on yourself over the voluntary spends - but you had a mini holiday so it was understandable spend. Perhaps you need a clearer holiday savings pot so you can ditch unnecessary guilt.

I started cooking for the VNM very early on. I cook well and it was so much cheaper than going out and the VNM always picked up the bill and I wanted to equal things out.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

I am impressed with you doing your own taxes. I had to file a capital gains one and had no clue, I couldn't get into my gov. website account and had to spend ages resetting the password. Then after weeks of not understanding how to do it, DP made me an appointment with a company who does this for a living. I was grateful to throw hundreds at them to pay them to do it over me.
I turned up and promptly burst into tears when he asked me to explain the numbersI think he felt sorry for me or thought me mad (maybe both) and asked for the passwords so he could log on.........in my annoyance at trying and failing so many times to log on and having to keep resetting my password I had used an expletive starting with F and a Y0U_@LLGuV at the end. I have never been so embarrassed. He tried to conceal his smile at my password (since changed) and filed it for me there and then and then said, please keep your money
consider this your free hour consultation, leave me a review instead! I promptly changed my passwords when I got home and left a glowing review! I hate taxes...... lol

@debtfreewannabe321 so sorry you were so traumatised and love your password !Glad you had a nice man to help - lots of people feel like this on taxes and money -I sm the weird one
I am realising I can be incredibly stubborn and I like software so for me it’s a puzzle I want to figure out and I will win .. as a kid I set up all the videos and the dvds and the tech in the family home - from about 6 yrs of age when I could not really read tech manuals so I have always just seen it as a game - oh look it’s on (!)
I was surprised how awkward system was in some parts - I had basically had submitted the 2 filings - companies house and HMRC - and got an email stating they had received my ct600 but then it clearly showed I had not filed so I did it again and it said it was not submitted and an email stating my CT600 was Not received ..
plus in the middle their wording was v unclear so that took me a while to get the figures added in in the right place .. I was v clear on my figures being accurate which helped !Hence my call to check …DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

I wish I had a RL friend like you
we all need someone who enjoys doing taxes! I would have paid with copious amounts of wine or tea, and cake or olives (or whatever your tipple and food preference was
)

I started cooking for the VNM very early on. I cook well and it was so much cheaper than going out and the VNM always picked up the bill and I wanted to equal things out.I will pick up off drink /coffee etc but MWAP always picks up big tabs
I went to loads of evening cookery schools so I learnt plus with my allergies it’s a pain having to have the GF conversation
I have of course won the £150 gift card so that will cover 2 meals or 3. Waiting for it to arrive
hoping I can mix it with my student discount !Thanks @Suffolk_lass hope you had a decent win
went into my acct April 2nd so looks unlikely
final day of tax year
will edge a small amount over to SIPP - still not been paid big promised invoice but dont want to tape loads out of nominated house deposit savings
going out to see a friend this eve at a private members bar and seeing the new man from Saturday afternoon - will get food in later today to cook
romance is not dead / I accidentally left my HRT at his when we went on holiday - and so have suggested he leave it at his as a spare . I did say I am fine if he doesn’t want that and also he can easily throw it away if we split up as it’s a spare .. I found it a bit forward and a bit cute when last years text ex left reading glasses at mine very early on ..
But then I had to decide what to do with his stuff once I had them been dumped by text and didn’t want any further conversations (I refused to call him back or respond to anything else as people don’t behave like that to me and get to have my attention in their life in any context )
