  • Hope you find the right flat soon. On the chat about paying more to not share a garden...you may well have your own garden by paying more but you still can't guarantee quiet neighbours across the fence, especially in built up areas so I am not sure I would pay all that much more for my own space. I have had issues with neighbours over the fence and a few doors down with noise pollution. Loving your attitude though, you are so positive! With that mindset you will find the right place for you!

  • Can you tell me which LED face mask you are using...I saw your comments on it and am intrigued, I haven't used one of these before but do love a new beauty product to try. Are they worth the money and have you seen improvements, or do you still have a wrinkle free face unlike me and it has just given you a nice glow  - I wouldn't knock the nice glow even if it doesn't get rid of my wrinkles!

Good that you are getting out to see more flats it is always hard you will have to compromise unless money is no object.
And even if money is no object, you can still only buy what someone else is selling!

The state agent being annoying is probably not transferring down the line to the seller, or if it is then they may be tied into a contract. Time to hold the silence and ignore the texts maybe?

easy for me to say, and I have everything crossed that it comes through for you.

Oh and mr redo loves using the chainsaw - simple pleasures. I just need to make sure I'm clearer in my requests.

I am not keen on a shared garden myself but appreciate it may be more common in cities so less chance of your own private space.
I saw a flat Sat  on same street - £450k 2 bed (tiny rooms) where the garden had been split into 3 sections - all fenced off for the 3 lots of flats in the building .... so either shared or split is v common in deepest North London

Light always for me & no shared garden. Mind you if it was shared someone else might do it for me

The light and triple height ceilings are doing it for me - and no huge immediate works .. are swinging it despite drawbacks - shared garden and you can see straight into the front room so would need to sort that out ... oh and the triffid in the garden .. >:)

I know I'm odd but I'd pay £700 extra to not share the garden.  It's bad enough when you are married to the kamikaze chain saw wielding non gardener...

I completely agree on the light though. Sit tight and see what else is about as you say.
I just want to buy and get this done .. though the mere thought of packing and further declutter ... argh ...

I would go with the light every time.  The house i have is dark and tbh I am very clear that if I buy again light will be a bit part of it.   last year i opened up a roof window and put the biggest i could in and that convinced me  - light every time.

The shared garden would be a bit of an issue, what happens if one of you has a noisy bbq and/or children and you want a quiet evening with a book one summer?    What happens when you grow your tomatoes and their dog eats them?  (That actually happened to a friend of mine:) )

Light is so important I always sit in the room with the most light - I rarely use my study though it gets light late afternoon ...
At present upstairs doesnt use the garden the EA says (ha!) but thats why I am not budging over the £450k mark..
I want the dog - he/she will probably eat the tomatoes.. and I will be having the noisy occasional bbq..

Also you may end up in the trap of always thinking the other party is going to maintain it and end up with nothing getting done to it (or is that just me that would passive-aggresive not confront it 🤔)!

I think it would be on me to maintain .. plus the owner (2 owners ago) paid for the JKNW eradication - not a joint bill for some reason... yet to ask why

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I hope you hear something soon, perhaps the owner paid for the JKW treatment as they wanted to be in a position to sell whereas others dragged their feet.
