Loved the washing chat. (I'm sure the date news will follow)
I live a rural and grubby life and the VNM works on plant machinery so his work uniform often reeks of hydraulic oil or similar. Has anyone tried this options under such circumstances?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -

Loving the laundry chat ! Learning loads ..I feel given the level of interest you all want details ..The date - err on one hand is was great, on the other possibly the worse date ever …we had a couple of heated debates - I never argue generally
Then he lost his phone in the club we ended up in .. and he normally gets a Uber home as lives miles outside London
When we first met we ended up going out in a group dancing and he dropped me home first and then carried on home despite it not being in the same direction
As black cabs are hard to find in Soho late at night and v expensive so you need an Uber (using a smart phone really ) I then felt obligated for me to get an Uber for us both - to drop myself home then him at his - as he insisted he would not let me drop him off via Uber whilst I waited on the street alone to get a black cab (if I had mentioned a bus he would have had a stroke ) ..
cost for me via Uber would have been £20
cost for him £69
actual paid cost for me to drop myself home and then Uber carries on to take him home £111!!Ouch
he did say last night he’d pay me back .. but I will see if he offers again - he did insist on buying all the drinks last night - one bar tab I saw was £177 alone .. so i don’t feel I can ask ..
I did do a casino offer when I got home and won more than that so worse case scenario.. I can afford
I have heard from him this morning saying how much he likes me etc and wants to see me again to get to know me and see if we can make this work as a relationship - his will power though - when he wants something he is quite intransigent.. he was happy for me to go home via Uber and sort himself out somehow .. except I wouldn’t leave someone in that situation .. so having a row at the end of the evening on a Soho street was a bit ridiculous
I laughed when I got home
I can see he really likes me and thus I have knocked him off his centre a bit .
He is an amazing human - crazy life story of literally coming from nothing and making a great and successful life against the odds - all from this will power of his but it might be difficult for me who is always chilled and does what she wants when she wants …
I am also so used to looking after myself - I travel around the world on my own and have done for decades so this I am a strong man (he is very ) and I want to help look after you, I will protect you is lovely but not something I am used to. It is good to see this in myself .. I have chosen to be single, I am very clear on this. I like being able to rely on myself
I can see we are already driving each other a bit nuts both in a good and bad way .. so watch this space -
i will be chanting for us both to be happy no matter what.2024 is my year to tackle long held habits and beliefs that are holding me back from what I want and see where I need to change (eg the very successful leave my phone out the bedroom etc)
I say I am ready to think about and want a relationship but I am not quite ready to dive into a full on commitment as he seems to want so I have told him to (politely) slow his roll and let this thing unfold - he is from a very different culture from me though
so college this afternoon but I am still on a go slow from the drinking last night … only exercise yesterday was dancing … 👍 as no time to go to gym after full day work and then seeing him earlyDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
