Changing to maiden name on TV licence for solicitors proof, is this fraudulent?

Options
So I'm married and when we applied to the solicitors we applied in my married name. 4 months later & after valuation of the house, they tell us they cannot accept my marriage certificate so we would have to apply In my maiden name. All my ID's are still in my maiden name whilst almost everything else is in my married name.

Solicitors have asked for proof of 2  utility bills to prove my maiden name. I only have water bill that is done annually so I can't use that.

But I changed my surname on my TV licence to my maiden name to get the utility bill. Is this okay for me to do ? Or is it fraud as I usually use King and changed it for the purpose of house buying?

Like, I own both names so surely its not fraud but now I am worried that It is?

What would be fraudulent about it? You're already using both names, doesn't matter as long as you're not pretending to be two different people.

The question though is whether the solicitor accepts a TV licence as a "utility bill'. You'd need to ask them. Won't they accept your marriage certificate as evidence? How did you open other accounts in your married name?

Could you change your name on your driving licence instead? Can you ask them what is wrong with your marriage certificate + passport (I'm presuming you're also giving them that type of photo ID).

A TV licence isn't usually considered to be a utility for ID purposes.

Nope marriage certificate isn't valid , the other utility bills didn't ask for proof of ID , when I changed my name at the banks , they accepted my marriage certificate when I went down.

My driving licence is used as photo ID and we're too late in the sale for me to change my driving licence plus the mortgage people already changed my name to maiden so that's why we have to ask solicitors.

Nothing wrong with the marriage certificate,  the bank for the mortgage just don't accept it as proof at all.

They aren't asking for ID as such I just need 2 utility bills with my maiden name on to confirm name change on documents really

Yes it's fine. I have some bank accounts in 1 name, some in another. Driving licence is not the same as passport.

Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Bit if its in smith,  can I change it to Anderson (maiden name) for an example (not my real names)

And it doesn't matter both passport and drivers licence is in maiden name still, passport and driving license have been used for photo evidence and proof of address.

They're both your names, you can use them where you want as long as you're not actually doing anything fraudulent. Or you could change the other utility bills.

I'm struggling a bit to understand why you're buying in one name, if everything in terms of ID etc. is in the other name...

It's just making everything more complicated than it needs to be surely?

Why does the solicitor not accept a marriage certificate?  I would have thought that would allow documents in either the maiden name or married name to be used to verify a person's identity.

So we were applying in my marriage name because 99% is in my married name and now the bank has turned around and said to us that they can't accept marriage certificate.  So mortgage broke said the bank is happy to apply in maiden name.

So we've had to change my maiden name on solicitors documents but to do so they need evidence of utility bills as they can't use my marriage certificate.

Mortgage broker, solicitor and someone else said the banks will accept my marriage certificate along with my maiden name id's .

My IDs are the only thing left in maiden name.

So didn't think there was a problem since multiple people told us it would be fine including someone either working along side bank or for the bank.
