Just glad I can't afford a new car🙂  I would imagine that a new car is the last thing on a Ukrainians mind🙁

This site is not about trying to buy a R8 at the best price🙂
It is, for those that want an R8 and can do so within their supportable affordability.

We seem to have to say this so many times, but MSE is not all about living like a hermit.  MSE is about getting what you need and want (and can afford) in the most cost-efficient manner.

I think recently, we had a Premier League Footballer discussing their new car:

Interesting you pick up on my R8 comment and not the war in Ukraine causing people to wait longer for their new cars.

Who said people had to live like a hermit?  It's about encouraging people to live within there means.

It’s mad. Wife and I ordered new cars a couple of months back. Keep seeing second hand versions of said car with say 10K miles on them for more than we paid for new. Because it’s here and available it’s £4K more expensive. Even with miles on. Absolute madness, just glad we can wait for new ones and not end up in the crazy second hand market right now.

Used cars will probably be back to normal in 2023, when your new car arrives.

If you are in the market for a R8 you are not looking at saving money.   You will pay whatever you have to pay to buy the car and whatever you have to pay for parts/service and fuel to run the car.  You are not a MSE and not interested in saving money

So let's dispel this myth that mse is about getting everything you need and want at the most cost efficient manner

Who is 'we'.  Who else are you speaking for?

Yes, indeed.  If their means extend to an R8, then that works too.

Obviously, if someone posts that they are on NMW with choosing to heat or eat and then they ask about a new PCP car, even one far more modest than an R8, the MSE response is to challenge whether a new car is appropriate in the circumstances or an alternative solution might be possible.

Sometimes, there are comments that suggest the poster simply thinks no-one should have something more than someone else, whereas many others are quite happy with others being successful and having a flash car if that is their choice and affordable for them.

Clearly the war in Ukraine is an absolutely awful facts and we should not be upset by that impacting the cost of cars or whatever, but this is a UK forum, so drifting from the subject.  My failure to comment does not, in any way, mean that I have no sympathy for the people of Ukraine and every prayer is with them. I am also wary of not going off into a political tangent.

Comment on this forum will be more linked to the local impact to cars, food, etc and the impact to UK based population than the terrible conditions in Ukraine.

In the context, your comment that you are glad you cannot afford a new car is an odd starting point.  If you could afford a new car, then you would have choice and that choice can be used any way - you could even choose to use the money to support the people of Ukraine, or rent a property in the UK for a refugee or a homeless person, or whatever.

I can't afford, but would love to be able to afford, an R8 or a Lambo.  However, if I could afford them, I would not choose to have them.

MAN trucks furloughed 11,000 workers this week. Appears to be a massive shortage of wiring harnessess in Germany. Probably the same issue which is facing the car sector across Europe.

You ignored or missed the smily face after the comment.  I'm glad I don't have that dilemma of waiting for a new car not that I can't afford a new car
