Yes, the Focus had MOT until June and no advisories. Four good tyres with about 10k on them.ididgetwhereiamtoday said:If it’s got a decent MOT and no baldy tyres id give you £630 for your Focus.£600 is chicken feed these days.
I have seen, now I need something else, stocks of used cars, say 2019 onwards, are still low and still selling quick.
New car supply is starting to recover (brand new) and lead times reducing but I guess there is a glut of nothing given the new car sales being supressed the past couple of years.
I'm not helped by not really knowing what I want.0 -
I was always under the belief that the late November - December period was quite an opportune time for buying a car as prices dipped.
Looking around, that does not seem to be the case right now.
Is there any time of year when prices are more favourable for the purchaser?0 -
At the moment? Who knows.

It's probably not the cost of buying one that kills it's the petrol, those 2.8i Granadas on an auto box are thirsty buggers.ididgetwhereiamtoday said:
I would love a MK2 Granada. I probably can't afford one though.caprikid1 said:
No idea what they paid for the Jaguar XK150 that was banger raced or what a MK2 Granada costs these days strong enough to race, certainly can't get a capri less than £2K.photome said:
people are paying more than £600 for a banger to go banger racing withGrumpy_chap said:I though the crazy car prices were starting to pass but it still seems daft out there.
My nephew had an old Clio and the gear box went, for which he was quoted £1,100 repair. More than he thought the car was worth so he got rid, still yielding a return of £660.
I gave him my old Focus as he needs a car to go to work. I was never going to charge him for the car, but I did a check on WBAC and they said my Focus was worth £630. Quite crazy given August 2021, WBAC said £150 for the Focus.
Is £600ish now the new rock bottom real end of life car value?0 -
Values do seem to be coming down. I paid £10.5k for my car 4 years ago and sold it to a WBAC type place for £10k in April.
If I do a valuation on it now it comes back as £7k. So it's lost far more over the last 6 months than the previous 4 years.0 -
The mini shape is still appealing and fashionable, so the age of the car matters less.BOWFER said:Colleague got offered £5000.00 from WBAC for his wife's Mini a few months back
Now being offered £7500.00
Given that a dealer woukd be looking at adding at least a grand onto that, I've no idea who is actually buying Minis of that age for £8500.00.....0
