  • My head is very anti part time. VERY anti so no chance! I would love it.

Today I tackled the spare room. Two bags of recycling and one bag of rubbish later, with some random items up in the loft and in the shed, extensive hoovering, some sewing and dusting and we now have a spare room you can walk into, a boiler you can see and an empty laundry basket, that in a shocking development may now be used for LAUNDRY. I know, I know. crazy idea.

My back is killing me. But it is worth it.

The big problem is the house bun. I really want a cage on wheels for easy cleaning but I can't find one. I might be able to put wheels on one I have.

Have you considered a small trolley, just a base on wheels that the cage could stand on. Might help 😊

    something like this
  • Bit of ply or chipboard cut to size at a hardware store of your choice and screw on a few casters, make sure it's slightly smaller than the cage base so no chance of chewing or acting as a tray for unsavoury items they might be kicking out.

  • So September has been ROUGH.

Really really Rough. Work is an up hill battle.

Money is running out. and I am exhausted.

I want a nap. so WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Decided not to spend any money on a cage, wheels or wood (Jellytotts, it is like you can see the rabbit in question) mainly because I have over the years bought every type of cage and run and I am SO OVER IT.

He is a much tamer rabbit than crazy knickers and so cleaning his area wouldn't be that bad.

Anyhow I am fairly fed up and oh we have a fly infestation - any suggestions?

Sorry to hear it's been difficult Buffy.  Maybe things will change as we move into a new season... autumn feels like it's here.

Re flies, I have also had them this year and the sticky fly paper stuff helps kill them off once you've got rid of whatever attracted them (here, it was a bag of potatoes I'd put in a cupboard and completely forgotten about while they turned to a revolting mush).

We have the paper. It has caught one. I have killed 7. And the Method all purpose cleaner is very good at disabling the !!!!!!.

The biggest success is the dettol spray as that seems to put them off of flying. I don't like the smell. But I do like not being constantly landed on.

We had a fly infestation about 10 days ago, suddenly the kitchen was full of bluebottles and it was hideous.  Found them crawling out of a tiny gap where the radiator pipe exits the wall, I'm assuming a mouse must have died in the cavity somewhere.  Didn't notice any smells though which is normally a give away.  I opened the doors and windows wide and went on a tea towel flicking rage...my aim is getting better.

I used to get a lot of flies in our old house, after a lot of googling it seemed that our doors seemed to face the right direction that as they'd warmed up in the sun and got a bit dozy they'd just fly in and do the "under lamp shade tango".  Haven't found anyway of keeping them out.  I've even got long voils at the patio doors but they seem to fly in on a gust of wind that lifts the curtain just enough to sneak past.
