Civil service. I hear there is an exodus of teachers that way.Buffythedebtslayer said:

I hear you on the job. I've loved it for 30 years and I'm leaving education in April all being well. X1 -
@Buffythedebtslayer You are the only other person I have known even to admit to seeing The Tourist. I am working my way through it and am slightly obsessed by it. Mind you, I am slightly obsessed by Australia in general - especially the Outback parts. We spent a month on holiday there years ago and I regret not moving there, if only for a few years.Credit card One :£926.60( Oct 21 )(Nov 21 vet bill disaster), £999(Jan 22), £974(Feb 22)

@Alchemilla I found that the Civil Service was even worse than teaching. No children to make you laugh or fetch and carry for you. Hope you've found a better bit of it than I did. I thought of it as the Civil Servitude...Credit card One :£926.60( Oct 21 )(Nov 21 vet bill disaster), £999(Jan 22), £974(Feb 22)

I watched The Tourist and loved it. I so wanted to murder the cop's boyfriend!2 -
@Alchemilla I've been in the Civil Service for just over 21 years and love my job. I'm a Private Office PA and more or less left to my own devices with no one breathing down my neck, which is what I love about it. Once you're in it's relatively easy to move around until you find something that suits you. We have a lot of ex teachers in our department.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Why is that do you think? Does the Civil Service pay better? Most teachers in Scotland are getting between £30 00 to £45 000. Is there a lack of permanent teaching positions? This doesn't seem to be happening in Scotland. How strange !Sun_Addict said:. The ex teachers I’ve spoken to have become disengaged with teaching. They generally come in at a higher grade so pay range starting at £52k (£59k for London) going up to well over £100k if they progress higher.Scottiedog_3 said:
