Being an OS devotee I am preparing for the summer/autumn preserving frenzy.
So, I've put lots of jars through the dishwasher and the labels have come off but some of them still have the sticky stuff on the outside. Does anyone have a way of removing the glue.
Suggestions much appreciated.0 -
I just put hot water in the jar then scrape it off, after first removing the water so as not to get burnt.0

Hi moanymoany,
To get rid of the sicky residue I just spray with a little WD 40 and rub gently with a cloth.
There's an older thread on this that I'll look for as I'm sure that there were other suggestions if you don't have any WD 40.

Lighter fuel. I used to use it in the video shop I worked in many years ago and it always got the cases looking brand new and removed all sticky stuff; but smells foul. That's Numberwang!0

We use "sticky stuff remover" used to come as a liquid in a bottle, now get it in a spray. Can be used on hair skin clothes glass plastic, you name it. Takes off tar, sticky residue from labels and plasters, wax crayon, grease and pretty much everything sticky. Does what it says on the tin! Wouldnt be without a bottle/tin in the house.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0

White spirit works too. Pick the 'lump' of glue off while jar still warm from the dishwasher and rub any residue with paper towel dipped in white spirit.0
