WD40 works for me, yes seriously before you laugh :p

I'm not laughing. It is liquid magic.

It is the "stuff of choice" for removing self-adhesive advertising decals from competition cars at the end of each season, without damaging the paintwork.

And, of course, useful for a million and one other things around the house, garden and garage. The best price I've found recently is £1.09 for 250 ml at ASDA.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

I use a Brillo pad - cut in half of coarse, never use a whole one!
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

Lighter fluid is brilliant. I used to use it to remove sticky labels from videos when I worked in a video shop many, many years ago.
But you might want to rinse the residue off afterwards, just to be on the safe side.

I second that! Also brilliant for getting "scuff" marks off patent shoes!

For glass I just scrub with a metal scouring pad in hot water. For less robust surfaces I've had success with dry cleaning fluid -think it's called Beau Caire.

I use surgical spirit (from the chemists) - great for cleaning keyboards etc as well.
