joedenise - I'm more concerned by one of the rubber washers as its perishing quite badly and my nearest old fashioned hardware store don't sell them, which is unusual because it's one of those places that sells everything!!! But I will keep check them each time I use them. I've never slept on a water bed and didn't realise you could heat them up, I'd love that!!!!!! I only like a cold bed in summer
This morning I went to the food hub for a bit of veg and got dd some bits to and then to the community pantry where I spent £7 for 20 items plus a few free bits they give you. I managed to get rice, pasta, tins, cereals and even some cheese and plain yogurt so was really pleased, oh and also quite a big bunch of mixed flowers so very pleased about that. The amount has been added to my total, so now I'll only need milk, butter and a few random bits to last the next few weeks, that's if I follow the menu plan!! I'm thinking I may go to the other pantry I sometimes go to the tomorrow as they have lots of different things there, I'm putting quite a few tins and packets into a separate box for emergencies in other words when the g&e goes up again!!
I've been doing a bit of knitting tonight but had to give up as my hands were hurting so much, I really ought to make a drs appointment but I keep putting it off as I have a feeling they'll just say it's old age and take pain killers, which I do when it gets too bad.
This weekend I'll be planting more seeds, the giant squash dgd planted a couple of weeks ago is getting so big, so I'm going to repot that and put it outside in the small glass house to see if it slows it down, It's like a triffid!!!! And as none of my butternuts have come up I'll redo those, I bought some new seeds the other day. I love this time of year, New seedlings, new baby birds etc it gives me hope for the summer. I sorted out the outside fairy lights the other day and I can't wait to get them strung up again, I was going to buy more this year but will wait a bit longer until I find some I like.
Anyway that's me to for a Thursday, no dgd tomorrow and I probably won't see any now until Tuesday, so I reckon I'll be cleaning etc from tomorrow onwards.
Take care and keep warm and well.

I wonder whether a plumbers might have a washer which would fit? Got to be worth a try if you can get the old one off (but I'd make sure it's actually leaking first though in case you can't get it back on!

joedenise - hadn't thought of a plumber, I'll have a look around as I think there's a plummer supply shop near to where dd lives, not sure if they sell to public, but worth asking, thanks for the suggestion.

As the weather was really sunny when I got up I put a load of laundry on and had it hung out as quick as I could, it dried and was back inside just after lunchtime!
Later on it went quite overcast and started hailing and then stopped within minutes and the sun came back out!
Some housework has also been achieved and I've been doing some knitting as well, although I had to take some pain killers afterwards, I'll have to get it sorted out.
I'm cat sitting the ' not my cat' from tomorrow morning whilst his owners (well 'not his owner') go on holiday to a sunny part of Europe. His original owners lived in the Close and although they took him with them he kept coming back, so for the last 8/9 years he's been looked after but his original owners supposedly still 'own' him!!!!! Anyway they bought his food over and my duties start tomorrow.
So good day

Hello @nannygladys,
Re the pain in your hands when knitting.....Is it arthritis? I was diagnosed with this in recent years. Couldn't believe it. Told the Dr "I'm too young for that, I'm only 54".....to which he laughed & says he sees people with it in their 30s. He asked me if my job involved lots of keyboard use (yes) & what I like to do in my spare time. When I said 'gardening, knitting, bread making, playing the piano, writing, etc", he said I was a 'classic case'. Mine started in my basal thumb joints, which were the part I had x-rayed, but it's clear that I have it in my finger joints too. The pain which triggered me going for a diagnosis did recede into a much more manageable state though. Dr prescribed Fenbid Forte gel & suggested I buy a hand wrist support, which I did (even though it looks like an assassin's glove, lol). If my hands are stiff or sore now, I find a good massage helps (I just use hand cream) & putting them on a hot water bottle helps too. It is more noticeable if I've done heaps of knitting or secateuring.
I just thought the pain in your hands sounded similar, so it's perhaps worth asking a GP.

foxgloves - oh no it sounds just like that, I worked in an office on typewriters then processors for most of my working life and only stopped for the 5 years before I retired as I wanted p/t so then went to sainsbugs making the cream cakes and confectionary, I loved that job there was no pressure, you clocked in and out (no stopping extra hours until your work was finished and not getting paid for it!!!!) And the people, including bosses couldn't have been nicer, the pay was !!!!!! though!!
I have started to wear a wrist support and admit that heat helps!£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3 -
Yesterday and today I am carrying on being lazy
I really don't feel like doing much so I haven't. I've not been out, I've not really cooked, I haven't been to the lottie. I will have to get my act together though as there's digging, clearing and planting to do at the lottie, cleaning to do at home, gardening at home and I would like to sort some bits, pieces and areas out in the house and garden and the car could do with a good wash. I think a list will have to be compiled and at least one thing done off it each day, except a Tuesday when I'm out.
So tomorrow I get up, make a bucket of coffee and compile a sensible list, then make a start.
The 'not my cat' I'm looking after who spends all night outside, slept on my settee ALL night and was still asleep when I got up lol!!!! In fact I thought he had died at first, he was that fast asleep - he is old though. At the moment he's settled himself in the same spot again
It's been a lovely but cold day here today but even that couldn't get me going, but at least I managed to put the bins out!!
Anyway I'll go its been one lazy few days for me, and its quite wearing me out!!!!!!

Cats aren’t nocturnal so I’m surprised he wants to be out all night…he’ll be loving his time with you, where he can spend the night in comfort and safety. You are a good ‘not cat’ owner. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

WinterWarrior - he spent last night in but woke me up at 5.30 to go out, so I let him out and went back to bed! When I got up he was meowing at the front window! Tomorrow I'm grandma sitting so he will have to be out all day. He's on the back bedroom bed asleep
Well today I did get going again. Cleaned through downstairs, washed rails and bannisters down, which was unintentional but I balanced my cup on the end of them and coffee dribbled out, so thought I might as well
Potted up the triffid giant pumpkin and put it somewhere cooler and planted the next wave of seeds, nearly out of compost so may call in b@q on way back from dds for a couple of bags as the rest of the week is mine!!!! So hoping to get down the lottie. Thinking on I'll have to order the new poly tunnel cover.
Sorted the freezer out again and made another start eating out of it, I keep saying it but obviously I don't make much of a headway, so I've put the food to be eaten first in the top draw, so I MUST not buy anything or make anything to fill the gaps
No shopping done, getting to grips seeing the smart meter going up quicker!!! And decided as long as I don't waste g&e and be mindful about it, I'll cope!!! And the suns been out and although not very warm it was nice to be in it potting the seeds in the peace and quiet
Hope you all had a good day

Billy cat woke me up at 5am so put him out and went back to bed. I'm hoping for a lie in tomorrow, poor thing will have been out all day in the rain today, but I'm sure he'll find shelter somewhere, let's hope he comes back!!!!#!
Grandma sitting today both dgc here, but eldest has been invited to a play thing by one of her best friends so I haven't seen her for a bit, I did clear it with her mum first you can't be too careful!
Dgs and I have just been doing a Thomas jigsaw and he's now watching a bit of Bing, I was hoping he would go to sleep but not quite there yet!
Pup looks lovely after his hair cut last week, tidy and puppy like now!! He's just over 10 months old now but he seems much older as he seems to have been here forever!!
That's it for now, catch up later.
