Oh I’m avoiding the horror of stepping on scales for a while…I know it will be a nasty shock! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

The scales are scary!
I've decided I'm going back on the 5:2 diet. Did it before and lost about 2 stone without a great deal of hassle. Can't remember now why I came off it when I still had about another 3 stones to lose... Oh yes I remember now, it was something called CovidI Believe.....

WinterWarrior - it was a bit of a shock, but was to be expected with amount of choc and food I've eaten lol
Sun_Addict - 'sad step' I like that!!! I must tell the dgc, they think I'm nuts at the best if times!!!
Four_Seasons - not heard of the 16:8 eating. I'll just be healthy eating I think but may follow SW roughly as well.
Chrystal - I haven't heard of 5:2 either, I must live with my head in the clouds
Today I actually managed to get up early and had a good night's sleep. A couple of days ago when I was on fb I noticed that the local rotary club had a pop up 'free food' hub open to anyone and it had been running for a few days, so I thought I would take a gander and see what was what!! I usually go to the community pantry but it's shut at the moment. Anyway I went down and there were no people in there!! Well the volunteers were but no one having any food and they persuaded me to have a few bits, you could take as much as you like as long as you bring you own bags! So I came away with some fruit and veggies, and thankfully another family came in. The volunteers were saying how slow it had been. I was really pleased with what I had (no cakes, pastries, cream etc I left those behind but very tempted!). There's we're tables full!!!
So that's it so far, just made Parsnip soup with Apple for lunch, which was nice and warming and there's enough for a couple of more days.
Right off for my walk even though it's raining and going dark, I'll keep to the streets though so I may be back before my half hour is up!!

Hi nannyg, the 16:8 means you dont eat for 16 hours (fast sort of) but can eat in the 8 hour window e.g. I have breakfast at approx 9am and have my tea at about 4.30pm finish by 5pm you can eat normally in those 8 hours but don't eat again until breakfast. I am no angel but find if I have set a time i.e. 5pm not to eat after it helps with no snacks on an evening, I also try to eat a healthier diet. Hope all this waffle makes sense! How lovely to have some fresh fruit and veggies from the food hub x1

Yeah, I'm another not looking at the scales, but then the dodgy knee has seriously dented my usual walking routines (I used to do 40 odd miles a week and now maybe do five). I'll go back to eating more veggies and fruit and having sweet treats as actual treats.

Four_Seasons - makes sense now and sounds quite sensible to me
Toonie - I've just started walking 30minutes a day for exercise, spurned on by puppy walking and I must admit I'm quite enjoying it. I may in time try some easy hikes with dd, they will be an easy stroll to her!
Dinner was a leek, potato, tomato sort of bake, it was nice and tasted better than it sounds written down.
Tomorrow I have dd1 and dgds coming for a visit and dd3 is dropping off the pup for the day whilst they go to sea world or somewhere, anyway I get pup, yay!!! Mind you I don't think I will get a look in as dgds all love him to bits.
That's about it for today

Hi everyone, Happy New Year, I had a very late one and slept in!
Had the dgc, pup and saw both dds and talked to dd2 as well yesterday so all's good in my little world.
Yesterday, Dd 1 made a visit to the new food hub, not sure if they will be there next week, they may be just a pop up one, we will see, anyway she came back with loads!! So I had some off her, dd3 also had a load off her and there was loads for her, they told her to take all that was there as it was near at the end, and they would be taking the rest to land fill. Both me and dd1 try to be frugal, live simply and be sustainable and it upsets us to see the amount of food waste from sm that goes to landfill when there are so many people going hungry or would eat it if they knew where to go!! Having said that she said there was still quite a lot left.
Anyway today was spent dealing with it all, so after rearranging the freezer I managed to freeze some, and the rest is in the fridge in freshness order so I can meal plan and eat it all over the coming week. Saved me some money from my food account and I'm very grateful for it, thank you rotary club.
Took the rest of my Xmas decorations down and although they are boxed away I still have to put the boxes in their storage places. I also did a load of laundry (sheets and towels) which practically fully dried outside, so pleased about that and that's about it. Tomorrow will be a cleaning day I think, but it may not be
