Sun_Addict - what a worrying time for you, I hope both hubby and daughter are getting/feeling much better now.
I have to be realistic about dog ownership, I'm in my 70's and although I love my doggy friend to bits I'm not sure I'd want the responsibility of him full-time, and with him belonging to my daughter I know I don't have to😏 so for me I feel it's a win win situation at the moment

WinterWarrior - if ever I cave in and have a cat or dog I'll know who to blame 🤣🤣🤣 you can be very persuasive 🤣🤣🤣 secretly I would love one but I really don't want that responsibility so looking after daughters for a couple of weeks a month suits me down to the ground 😄

Would fostering a dog be an option for you?

Pollie - I'm happy sharing DDs dog with them. He doesn't seem to mind being here regularly and to be honest he gets longer walks with me as they have a young family, but he loves his family and the little ones love him, so he seems to get the best of both worlds and I don't have to take all the responsibility of a full-time pet 🐕. I also think if I fostered a dog I would end up adopting it and I'm happy just looking after one a week or two at a time, but thanks I'd probably consider it if I was younger🙂

So today I've been pottering about in the garden veggie beds. Eldest dd came up yesterday and took lettuce back with her, unfortunately I ate the last of the radishes the other day and the follow on ones are big enough to eat yet so sil will have to without any 🤣🤣.
I've just come in after having a pleasant hour sat on the garden swing with a coffee and my knitting in the sun with only bird twittering in the background and bees buzzing amongst the veg and flowers, and then I heard a rumble of thunder, lots of big rain drops came down so I came in and now it's sunny again!!
I haven't been out the last couple of days so no money spent but I do need some milk, unless I use some dried milk out of my store🤔 I'll see how desperate I get. So I should last out until Wednesday hopefully and not much is spent out of the change I've collected from around the house!🙂
I've created another budget that's more realistic for me, so I will try to follow that next pay period and as long as I stick to it I should be ok 🤔 It just means being more careful and not putting as much away into my different pots, which is a disappointment for me, but I have to be realistic, perhaps my g&e DD will go down when the new cap comes in🤣🤣🤣
Anyway,  I ought to get on and look what I'm having for my tea. I haven't a clue yet but I have 'stuff' in so I won't go hungry, sometimes it's not the food I want to eat at that time, but there's quite a lot of people in real dire straits who have little or no food so I shouldn't complain.

Glad you got a chance to sit outside and relax yesterday. I think your weather must have been better than ours. We had a lot of rain yesterday but thankfully no thunder as our dog doesn’t like it. Everything is soaking wet and the growth/weeds are looking very lush. At this rate I really am going to have to adjust to gardening in the rain even though that feels unnatural. I found some enormous snails on the pots in the greenhouse yesterday evening. I am holding back planting things out in the garden because I fear that they will be eaten overnight.
It seems impossible not to have to adjust budgets at the moment, especially with regard to food. We are being as tight as we can with fuel usage and have got the water butts set up for the garden. All full, of course, and still it rains! My appetite isn’t always good and so I have the same problem regarding eating what is there, rather than what I really fancy. It’s satisfying though to be able to keep out of the shops as I then want to buy more than I came in for.

I agree with you on borrowing your DDs dog rather than adopting your own. I love dogs and do a lot of walking and when I retired my sister put a lot of pressure on me to get a dog but I pointed out we travel a lot so it is not fair to keep putting it in kennels. Sometimes they don’t like being left alone and I am often out all day as is DH who made it clear he would not take responsibility for one. A lot of places don’t accept dogs either and many of my walking groups are not keen on them particularly if livestock involved and coastal walking is often dangerous for them. So I borrow my DDs border collie and walk her several times a week which suits me.

Needless to say my sister got a dog and now moans about cost of kennelling and they can’t leave her even for a few hours so can’t go to restaurants or even shopping together with her partner as one has to stay with the dog all the time.

Hope the new budget works for you.
