KxMx - I usually carry my debit card but very rarely use my credit card, but I've found I'm much more careful shopping using cash, not as tempted to over spend🤣 we have to find what works for ourselves and situation I suppose.

kayannie - I think I must be an odd bod as I'm not fond of anything with elderflower in, and the same with sourdough that people seem to rave about.
I have a very small compartment in my purse where I keep a small amount for treats, I usually save it up for the week before I get paid and have a nice coffee and a cake🤣

Makingabobor2 - the recipe came with the ice-cream maker and was quite simple, there was only lemon juice, water, sugar, orange and egg white in it!! I'm making it again next week when DD is visiting so she can try it as well.

I've been shopping today and used the new DD card to activate it!! I didn't go mad though, just bought what was needed and a couple of bits for the dgds tea for when I picked them up from 'after school club'.
When their dad came to pick them up I picked a tub of lettuce for them to take home! It's the only veggie growing in abundance at the moment. I actually went out into the garden after midnight last night and picked up and disposed of so many slugs and snails it was horrendous, I think they're after taking over the world🤣🤣 starting in my garden!
So another day done and nearer the weekend, not that it makes much difference to me but it still feels different somehow. I haven't really got much planned for the next few days, just the usual chores and visits to the Lottie etc.

I’ve had to move some of my plants from the main greenhouse to the mini greenhouse because slugs/snails were eating them 😞 I did try a beer trap which worked for the slugs and it was amazing how many it caught.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Sun_Addict - I have a couple of slug traps at the Lottie, I'll have to pick them up when I next go.
Thanks for reminding me 😉£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3 -

Cherryfudge - sorry I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks, just how it's been.
Lemon sorbet
175g granulated sugar
175mls water
1/2 juice from a medium sized orange
100 mls lemon juice
1/2 egg white
1 Place sugar and water in a saucepan
2 Stir over low heat until sugar has dissolved
3 Bring the mixture to the boil and allow to boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
4 Add orange juice and lemon juice
5Whisk egg white until almost stuff and then stir into the lemon mixture. Pour the mixture into the freezer bowl with the paddle running. Allow it to freeze until desired consistency is achieved
This was using my ice cream maker, I've made it again and it was still lovely, and normal ice-cream to which I added drinking chocolate to and less sugar, that also turned out fine but a bit sweet for me, so next time I will try coco instead.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund4 -
I know I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks but time has flown by and that's my only excuse really. I've been keeping up with jobs in the garden and Lottie, taking pup walks ( yes I still have him 😍) and generally just living and surviving!!
I was paid last week so budgets all done and bills all paid and I'm still trying to save for the rest of the jobs that need doing in the house but it seems to be getting more difficult not easier even after the OAP rise, or perhaps it's just that I've had a couple of unexpected bills and you have to have a little bit of enjoyment - even at my age🤣
Anyway I'm still solvent and managing and that's the main thing.
Everything is quiet here, oh both conservative and labour candidates have been about so I had an interesting conversation with the labour one who didn't like, couldn't answer or didn't know the answers to my questions and in the end just walked off🤣🤣 probably thought I was a senile old bat or a conspiracy person 🤣🤣 but they should at least try and waffle their way through, I quite enjoyed it really😉
So besides just getting by as best I can I haven't been doing anything exciting. It is nice that the fruit and veggies have at last started to produce, so the left over food money will be spent stocking up the pantry for the coming winter months.
The close has been decorated with England bunting for the football, there is quite a lot really but I love it, it's like having Xmas lights up, it brings joy into my life, I love it!!! Mind you they gave gone a little mad this time around but it fab u lous🥳🥳🍺🍻🥂🍾🍷🍹

Thank you for the recipe, @nannygladys! I look forward to trying it out.
Love your conversation with the prospective Parliamentary candidate.I hope he or she went home and researched the answers.
