WinterWarrior - I was bought up in a town pub that only had a yard, no green at all, so when I moved into my first flat I started with a cactus!! And progressed from there🤣 I'm not so keen on growing flowers although I have lots of plants that come back every year in the garden but for some reason I love growing fruit/veggies, perhaps it because I can eat them😀

Opalgirl - i had opals in my engagement ring. Yes I agree good handymen are hard to find but I like supporting local people, same with farms and shops, he is tidy, thorough, always tells me what he's doing etc and cleans up after himself, and comes across as a nice individual also everything he's done so far has been really good, the other thing is, if he feels he can't do a good job then he won't do it. I would have liked a bit of vinyl putting down in the bathroom but he said he's only done it once at his own house and wouldn't feel confident of doing a good job for a customer!!

Moorviews - thanks, things are gradually getting completed but it's all going to take a bit of time but its making such a big difference to how I feel about my surroundings 🙂

I thought pup was going home today but youngest is out all weekend so I'm taking him back on Monday 😀
I took him for a very long walk yesterday and wore us both out! Me for the rest of the day and him for about 15 minutes 🤣🤣
It seems to be getting a bit brighter outside, so I must go and rescue the pea and bean seedlings in the greenhouse (it's white not green) as they are on the floor, having been knocked onto it by the wind. Hopefully they will survive as this is the second time they have toppled off the shelf, but there's still time to just plant them in the ground if needs be.
I've so far so hoovered through, dusted the front room, had my shower, prepared my salad for lunch and read a bit of my library book!! I'm on form today 🤣🤣🤣 I'll be burnt out by mid-day,!!

you are doing really well now with getting everything done. I think once you start with things, it cheers you up and you feel more positive about getting other things done. Or that's what I feel anyway.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Makingabobor2 - you're right, I think it's because I've had to live with many small things that are just annoying like the leaks in the bathroom, and really some were easy to someone who can do basic DIY, but not to a 70+ lady who hasn't a clue 🤣🤣

I've had a quiet couple of days just working in the garden, planting out, gentle digging and getting my hands dirty. Does me good to get my hands in the soil especially as the sun has been shining😀 it's still not that warm though but at least we have a window without rain.
That's about it really, feeling happy, positive and blessed.

As it's been mainly dry the last few days - my days have been either spent at the Lottie or in the garden. My eldest came to the Lottie with me, I think she's quite enjoying it, getting her hands dirty and digging!! It's lovely to have her there and have daughter and mum time without children/hubbie being around, although her husband is actually a really nice man and entertains the kids whilst we have some time together😁 anyway it's progressing well and we have started to plant out the seedlings.
The garden is progressing really well although seeds don't want to germinate so I'm having to resow quite a lot of them for both locations and if it doesn't grow theres always next year, each year there's always a a few veggies that don't as good as the previous year as it seems to go round in circles.
On the money front - each one of my direct debits has gone up, some less than others but estimating my OAP pension rise it isn't going to be enough to cover it. I know how much the pension rise will be but not sure about the pension credit, in fact I don't even know if it is going up. Anyway there's not much I can do about it at the moment but I figure more tightening of the belt will be involved somehow very soon.
I keep reading because of the wet weather the farmers are unable to plant some of this year's crops or they are failing, so there may be shortages this winter coming so that's something to look forwards to .... Not!!
Anyway all's well and dandy here and it's lovely to have a bit of warmish weather at last and I've got the pup for a few days this week so getting some walks in as well so it's not all doom and gloom, in fact I'm still feeling quite positive about things, even if it's contrary to what the news channels put out, so I will close and go to bed.
Be happy and get all your ducks in a row, because when you get to my age you realise how quickly life goes.
