Good to see you back and that you're ready to pick up the baton again. I think the majority of people go through phases like this from time to time.
You've done really well getting all those jobs done, that handyman was a good find.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I will definitely look for an offcut of carpet for the front room and I would like to go the stairs as well, the hallway is wood so that's fine and as though the handyman doesn't fit carpet his next door neighbour is a carpet fitter 🙂 the settee will be ongoing for a while and I'll probably end up with another secondhand one 🙁

Happy Easter everyone.🐰🐇🐣
So I've kept myself busy the last few days, still sowing seeds and looking after the ones that have germinated and so far it's just the sweetcorn that haven't woken up yet, I'll give them another week and then plant newly bought seed if they don't show.
I still have my pup visitor but he's going home tomorrow, we've been some long rambling walks that we've both enjoyed and I feel better for getting out and going places.
I've been knitting, sewing and mending and keeping out of the shops, mainly my spending has been on stuff for the handyman to do - which has its own savings pot but it's going down quite quickly, but the house feels better and so do I🙂
This week is pay day so I'll go though it all very closely and then make a list of meals I can make with the fresh food I have in!! I bought the veg that was on offer and I've been making soup and freezing trays of cooked veggies - I did this at Xmas and it worked really well for me.
I am starting to make a couple of changes how I live, nothing too drastic and I will reveal all when I know I can sustain them, I'm feeling happier in myself after my blip and some of it was probably to do with the amount of time I was on line which I have now addressed and the getting a bit jittery about the amount I'm spending on housey/gardening bits but I'm over that now. I can cope with it all again😀 at least it was mostly for my comfort and I'm pleased what a difference it all these little jobs being completed have made!
So that's it for now, I'm going to the pup and make myself a risotto - I love risotto

Glad to hear you sounding more like your usual self! I imagine the feeling that spring is on the way helps.

I really like that 'the house feels better and so do I'! I have a couple of soups in mind for some of the veg I've accumulated, so I'll be following your good example and meal planning around what we have in.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Happy Easter 🐣 It’s good to hear that everything is looking brighter for you. I have to watch how much I am online too. This year has been a lot about using up what is in my cupboards and I still have loads of dried pulses to get through. I must have gone through a phase of buying chocolate chips too!
House maintenance is an expensive process and we have much to do here. Some big jobs like new windows upstairs and other smaller projects that we have not managed to get around to. I am looking forward to that uplifting feeling of getting some of them done this year. We also need to get new carpet for the stairs and landing as it is literally threadbare in places on the stairs. You are a fantastic role model for getting on with the seed sowing early. Allowing enough time to buy new seeds if needed. I haven’t thought of it that way before. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 😊7 -
Thanks kayannie, you're probably right 😏
Cherryfudge - i made some parsnip soup that turned into a dhal type meal, so I added spinach into it and served it with rice!! And it was very nice even though I say it myself! I seem to start off making one thing and turning it into something else quite often 🙂
Moorviews - I've got quite a lot of dried pulses in my cupboards and also quite a lot of canned ones as well, they'll all come in when needed, but I am trying to use and replace at them at present 'just in case'. Choc chips wouldn't last long in my house 🤣🤣
The handyman was a good find, he was made redundant a couple of years ago from a large company (he was an electrician) and decided to become a handyman, and mostly for me its jobs that aren't that large that perhaps could be done by a diy'r, but he's very reasonable and has good write ups and I would also recommend him as well! So I'm glad I took a chance with him, as you say house repairs etc are very expensive.

I had a lovely day today at my dgs's birthday, he was 4, it's gone so quick! But as it was at the beginning of the first lockdown I remember it very well!! Racing up to their house, hoping I didn't get stopped, in fact I only saw one car for all the 16 mile journey to look after Dgd whilst they went to hospital! His party is next week for all his nursery friends etc which I'll be going to as well, but it was lovely to have us all ( both families,)under one roof (except middle DD who lives abroad) had good catch ups, lots of hugs etc and hm birthday cake 🙂
Tomorrow the handyman is coming to do a couple more jobs, so I'll have to be up early and youngest DD is coming to pick pup up as we decided it may have been a bit much for him if I took him with me today, so I get to have him for another day! I took him over the fields when I got back home for a good run, and we managed to get back just before it started to thunder and rain really heavy!! It had been sunny whilst we were on the fields and then 1/2 hour later it was back to being sunny!
I'd better go if I have to get up early tomorrow, I'd hate to answer the door in my PJ's and he's usually here before 8am that is early for me 🤣🤣

I went to bed last night and was thinking about the handyman coming today and had a nagging feeling that he wasn't due today although I'd put it on my calendar, so I looked at his message and I was right!! It's next Tuesday 🤣🤣£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund5

Had a lovely day with my youngest dd and two dgc, we didn't do very much but the 4yr old was still excited at having his b'day yesterday! She also took the pup home 🙁 but I'm sure I'll have him again very soon😁 it seems very quiet here although he's not a noisey dog, I think I miss his presence in the house!
Other stuff I've done - bit of laundry - dried outside, bit of hoovering and sorted a couple of bits to take to the local cs, all done before dd arrived, oh and dgs and I planted some climbing beans in the little green house that he can plant out when they have grown and the weather is warmer. There's still no sweetcorn appearing, it's perhaps too cold for them to germinate, but I did buy fresh seed the other day so I'll wait another couple of weeks to see if they appear😏
That's about it really, fat club tomorrow. I've missed a couple of weeks so I'll see what ,(if any)
damage has been done 🤣🤣
