All sounding very busy in your world. It’s a great feeling to tick jobs off your list, you’ve reminded me I need to find a handyman to fix my bathroom sink. I’m a massive fan of orzo, it’s my favourite pasta.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

You sound very well organised and busy. I have a couple of pear trees in pots that I need to get planted out. I have had them for a few years. They are like a fork with two varieties grafted onto one stem, however in both cases one variety has died off. Not knowing quite what to do with them has held me back. I originally ordered a family pear tree but the grower didn’t have it and sent me these instead. If I had a fence then I could maybe grow them like a cordon, however, unfortunately I don’t as I have hedges.1

Do you think you used plain flour instead of SR? Scones are usually so foolproof, I can't think of any other explanation!

Sorry I haven't been on here lately, life just got a bit busy🤣
Thank you all for the lovely comments, it makes my efforts at this simple, frugal life worth it😘
Since I was last on here last, I've now got new taps, new toilet mechanism and the bath sealant replaced in the bathroom oh and a new roller blind put up and the leaks have now gone -yay. My kitchen sink waste thingy has been replaced, the new curtain pole in the front room is being done tomorrow ( I bought the wrong size 🫤 so that one is going to replace the old one in the hallway) and the new double plug socket also in front room is also bring done tomorrow. I'm having a quote for the outside lighting and a couple of very small jobs so hopefully I'll be able to have those done in the near future.
I see prices are still going up across the board and I've nearly gone over my budgets this month, I can only make a couple more car journeys as the tank is very low but I have a bus pass so will use that. I always said i would carry on using the buses after my cataract surgery but that didn't last very long and where I live the bus services are really quite good!
I've also been spending on crafty bits and bobs, but I have everything I need now to start my Xmas x-stitch picture that I want to complete so I can hang it on my wall for the festive season, and I've finished the jacket I was knitting. The garden is waking up so I can think about starting the first of my veggie seeds off in the next few weeks, it's too cold up here to start yet - I've learnt that the hard way!! I have lots of potatoes chitting all over the place, I keep thinking I have too many but I have bought more buckets to have them in the garden and I'm also having quite a large bed of them at the Lottie. I can always buy a couple of more buckets if I need to. Last year the localish garden centre I go to had a two for one on grow bags that I was hoping they would have this time around but there's no sign yet 🫤 I usually put the old compost from the pots and buckets into the raised beds and buy fresh for the new growing season then just refresh the beds. Anyway I'm sure all will grow and be fine. Someone (not me) said 'all seeds want to do is grow' so it's up to me to help them along a bit 🙂
I'm sorry it's been a bit of a long one, I'm trying to get back to an earlier bedtime and earlier getting up time routine so I'll wish you all a good night and thank you all 😘

It’s lovely to hear from you nanny. The house jobs sound great and the garden plans too 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Thanks WinterWarrior round one of the smaller jobs have been done and I must admit they have made me feel so happy 😁 I have had him quote me for another small job that needs doing and I'll call him again in a couple of weeks. Most bits will get done slowly over the summer bit by bit.
If I can get the wood for the raised bed I want doing my sil will build it for me, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
I finally did a bit of planting, I had wanted to go to the Lottie this weekend as it's been dry the last couple of days, but yesterday I pulled something in my back and it hurts so I'm 'resting' it, it's ok to walk and bend forwards but hurts when I'm lying/sitting down 🤣 so as I had already prepared some trays for seeds I showed my broad beans and hopefully do some more seed planting in the next few weeks.
I'm at the dentist early tomorrow morning so that'll be interesting to see what they suggest as I can't afford a NHS capping. I'm not looking forwards to it, I'm not fond of dentists as I've had bad experiences with unsympathetic dentists in the past and was sorry my last dentists went private as I always had a good relationship with them for years 🙁 so ....
I'm hoping I'll have a quieter week after tomorrow as I have a few bits and bobs to do, well that's if my back keeps on improving. I have post to catch up on emails to answer and some more clearing drawers out and painting and gardening, I'm hoping the weather holds out 🤣
