Thanks so much everyone for the thoughts and hope.
At long last he is back home, he has had sepsis and been very ill but is getting better day by day. It was a very worrying time especially for my DD and his parents ( and me of course) and at times we seriously thought he would never get home, but thank goodness he's young and usually healthy so that stood him in good stead I think. He is very tired and sleeping a lot but that's a good thing as it means the body can heal itself. It's unknown how he contracted it but it wasn't for the sake of the doctors trying, and the only organ left affected is the liver which they are doing more tests on! But he's home now and that's the best thing to happen.

Wow, how horrible for you all. And what a relief that he's steadily improving,. Go gently on yourself for a while, you deserve recovery time too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So with being away from home for a bit and looking after dgc I've been all over the place money wise 😞 so I've written November off and it's a new start now as I've just been paid. I will look at the budgets and get sorted out over the weekend!!! My fridge/ freezer is hanging on and I'm hoping to get one next week, well order it if they haven't the one I've seen in stock and then I can start thinking about Xmas again 😂 I still have some Xmas cards from a bulk buy a few years ago and I've just one more card to embroider for a dgd. I also donate the amount I would spend on cards even though I'm sending the bulk buy ones out - I went a bit mad in the sales that year 🤣🤣
Present wise, the money has all been saved and eldest DD has had hers already to put it towards the dgc presents and I will be transferring youngest dds at the beginning of December and to my middle dd just before xmas, so that's Xmas done,!!! 🤣🤣 Food, I'll see how I go, probably a few mince pies, sausageless rolls and the Xmas cake and not much else, I'll only eat it and Im still losing weight🙂
I went for my free coffee at the garden centre yesterday and oh all the Xmas decorations and lights ..... So lovely and happiness invoking 😀 it's nice to be back out in the car and able to get to some different places, but I must make the effort to keep walking and taking buses when I can.
I'm looking after pup again to help out so I'm back to dog walks, it's so much easier walking when you have to walk the dog🙂 anyway off to make a drink and put my phone on charge, oh, iPad has stopped working now!! It's the time for replacing all things plug dependant I think🤣🤣 still it was secondhand when I got it and ive had it a few years so like the fridge/freezer doesn't owe me anything but I will take it in to see how much it would cost to repair before I start saving/spending on a new one.

if you do need to look for a new iPad check out the refurbished ones. I’ve just bought one for a good price. There is always something that needs replacing isn’t there ☹️6

So glad to hear the good news. What a relief for you all! KA3

That must have been such a frightening experience for everyone. Thank goodness he got the treatment he needed in time and has responded well.Priorities change during times of crisis so it isn’t surprising that the money side of things got lost for a while. It sounds like you are very organised with your Christmas preparations and lovely that you felt uplifted by the Christmas displays. Sometimes they can be just the right thing to help during the short days, especially when the weather is so gloomy and wet.4

Thank goodness he’s back home. What a scare for you all. Life is so precious. I bet Christmas will seem even more special this year.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks everyone, he's still very tired and weak but improving a little each day, he's not one to sit around doing nothing but at the moment he's that exhausted all the time even walking to the bathroom takes it out of him so realises that he's still really poorly. He's back to the hospital Tuesday for more tests so hopefully that may answer some more questions.
My iPad is working again🙂 I switched it back on today and it came on with the battery charged to about 30% I'm beginning to think it's one particular app I downloaded a while back as it's always been a bit temperamental whilst I was on there, so I'm going to delete it off altogether and see what happens, a friend suggested I may need a new battery in it but as there was still charge left in it I'm not so sure, to be honest I'm just pleased it came back on, perhaps I was working the old girl a bit too much 😂😂
I put fuel in the car the other day, first time for months, a bit of a shock as it's gone up but I'll just have to be careful! I'm back on track with organising my budgets but rearranged some of the money pots so I can start afresh, so far so good.
My youngest came down for a visit today and I put the heating on, when she'd gone I had a look to see how much I'd used, it was a couple of pounds 🙁 just for a couple of hours on low so it went off , the total for the day is the highest it's been so far this year!!! But I'm not going to let it get to me as I'm in credit and when I receive the oaps winter payment I'll put that on too so I should be ok. I really don't know how people manage and the energy companies are still making huge profits 🙁 Rant over🙂
So that's it for now, I still have pup so I'm getting some exercise and company, and when he sits on my feet he's keeping them warm as well😀. Have a good week all

Whenever I have problems with my iPad I clear the cache and this seems to do the trick.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3
