So, I went to the city and made the appointment for next Monday, they had one left for this week but it was ridiculously early in the morning so I declined. They also asked me if I wanted to book a back of the eye scan but as I told them I’ve been having one on each visit to the clinic, which is how they detected my problem and it was only a few days since I’d had one so I said no and saved £10!!! and then she are you sure 🤪🤣🤣
I woke Sunday sneezing like I had hay fever but it’s turned into a head cold, I don’t think I’ve had a cold since before the dreaded cv. Anyway I’m feeling much better today and nearly back to normal, which is just as well as I need some milk🙂
The pup is still in residence but he should be going home this weekend, I’m going to miss him a lot, I’ll miss having another living being here, and no I don’t want one here permanently, I don’t mind sitting dgc or pets but I don’t need them living here all the time🤣
So as I’ve been feeling sorry for myself with all the sniffing and sneezing I haven’t really been out so no money spent the last few days. I have been on the I/T looking at bits and pieces as you do, but again I wasn’t tempted, so feeling pleased with that as there was a couple of books I wouldn’t have minded.
Anyway, feeling tired so bedtime is calling me, I’m earlier going to bed these days and I’m sleeping really well!

Today where I live it hasn’t stopped raining - again!! We’ll all be getting webbed feet😀
This morning I braved the weather and walked to the drs to pick up a bp machine as I don’t own one, and they want me to take it again for a week to see if these new tablets are working, to be honest I don’t one jot different, no extra energy or dizzy spells (after the first couple of days) so it’ll be interesting to see how it is now.My cold has now disappeared and I’m back to normal, no more sneezing or headaches - yay
I also called in the co op this morning to buy bread and some more food for pup (his money is separate from mine) so I spent £1.25 (10p off as I’m a member). I had the last of the leftover soup for dinner and bulked it out with some rice and added some curry powder into it so it was more like a dhal, it was very nice like that. This afternoon I made some gnocchi which I’ve never done before and having it with some leeks and mushrooms in a cheese sauce and breadcrumbs on the top like a bake and will grill a veggie burger I found at the back of the freezer. I have big hopes for this meal as I like all the components 😀 the gnocchi recipe from curtesy on Jack Munro, I do use her books quite regularly.
As well as being wet here I reckon it’s turning colder so I may have to start putting the gch on for a few hours a day, I already put my electric blanket on before bedtime to warm the bed up😀 I don’t like a cold bed in winter - only summer.
Tomorrow Nobody is visiting (had eldest dgd today for a few hours today) so I think I’m going to sort the childrens games out, there’s a lot of game pieces all over the place so I’ll get them all out and check to see if they have the bits and if not out they are going!!! It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while as that corner in the front room seems to have come a bit of a dumping ground and I’m getting fed up looking at it.
I can really hear the wind and continuing rain still, I hope nothing blows away🤣 Right onto to cooking tea, and I hope it’s as tasty as dinner was.

Feeling a bit sad today as the pup went home yesterday and the house seems empty without my furry little follower! But this morning I have kept the walking up by pretending to myself I was dog walking and then calling at the local co op on the way back to pick some milk up which is why I was going out!I only bought a pint of milk as the larger whole milk (that I buy) was all dated today and I wouldn’t use it all before it had gone off. My dinner was pasta with a variety of veg that hasn’t been used and tea will the last of the soup I made the other day with bread, I’ve just started the bread machine off so I can have a nice warm crust with butter with the soup 🙂. Not sure what I will make tomorrow but I’m thinking of setting the slow cooker off in the morning with a veggie casserole as I’m at the opticians - yay! And it will be cooked and ready to be eaten when I get back home. If I can start driving without glasses I’ll be going out on Tuesday to the garden centre for my free coffee and the farm to get my milk and fresh eggs, if not it’ll have to wait another week🤨 or I might go and see my youngest dgd, who now just over three weeks old, it’s only 16 miles but to get there on the bus I would have to catch a bus to another town and then another to where she lives, it’s the same by train I’d have to take two!, there’s no direct bus or train there so if they are in I think I will leave the garden centre until Wednesday morning😋
The fridge/freezer has started to make an unusual noise every now and again, so I’d better start looking for another and eating done the freezer! I’ll use money from the EF and build it back up again as soon as I can, I do have some money for it but when I looked online it isn’t quite enough unless I borrow some out of the EF, so that’s the way to go I think.
Anyway I’d better go and sort out these toys that are broken and going in the bin before I have to put it out for tomorrows bin collection.

If you don’t want to commit to having a dog or cat permanently, how about fostering for a rescue centre?I haven’t heard you mention “not my cat” recently has he stopped visiting?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I think the fridge/freezer is a good use of the emergency fund. From what you've said, it might also use less power, so win/win!
That's a good idea of @Sun_Addict's, re fostering. I think there's also an app that enables you to pair up with a dog owner and walk their pooch, which could work well for both you and them.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Sun_Addict - unfortunately ‘not my cat’ 🐈⬛ Has deserted me. His people ( neighbours down the road) came over and asked if I would feed him whilst they went away over at Easter and I hadn’t seen him for him for a while so they asked the other neighbours that had started feeding him if they would instead and he never went home so he lives across the road at their house now!! I don’t mind as their beloved cat died a few years ago and he is very well looked after. I know them quite well and went I went there for a visit he was sat at the top of their stairs looking quite sheepish but he looked so much better, he’d put on weight, his white was white and he was sleeping in every night, so a win win situation for him🙂 and that’s what’s important, mind you he didn’t come down to say hello 🤣
dd has told me about a local dog walking charity that I might look into, it’s mainly once or twice a week and the pet usually belongs to someone who isn’t fully mobile anymore and that seems quite a good option.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund7 -
Cherryfudge - I have been to have a look today as I was in the vicinity of a shop that sells them and I have seen a built in fridge/freezer that will replace mine and a small chest freezer that will be plenty big enough for me, so I just have to make sure all my measurements are correct and put my hand in my pocket!!! I think I will take it out of the EF and then repay it as I still have quite a chunk left from the new canopy that I could use if an emergency came up before I’d paid myself back, and the amount is low that I would have to ‘borrow’ out of it so hopefully it shouldn’t take long. Thank goodness I learnt my lesson and started all these pots off😀

So today was the day of the eye test!!!!
Well I’m borderline with the legal requirement for driving! But I obviously need reading glasses, after a prolonged discussion and weighing it up I decided to have glasses for driving even though I can technically drive without them, but I’m having the glasses as variofocal so I only need one pair, my thinking was I would be less likely to lose a pair and have the correct ones with me at all times! I won’t be wearing them full time though, and as it was buy one get one free I ended up with two pairs😂 the prescription is no longer ‘complex’ therefore so much cheaper!!! And I can pick them up next Monday but can also start to drive now if I so wish!! I could always leave one pair in the car I suppose. My eldest dd said if I was legal then why did I get some but as I said I had quite a lengthy discussion with them and at the end of the day it was my decision, I think it may be a bit of a security blanket because for years my eye sight has been so bad and I still have that feeling it’ll get worse, mind you there isn’t any reason why it should anytime time soon but I’d rather be on the side of definite legality, it makes sense to me anyway.Tomorrow I am going to venture out and get some farm milk from the farm and a free coffee from the garden centre and have a good nosey around at all things ‘garden’ but I still won’t be buying anything though, but my freedom has been given back to me, but I won’t leave venturing further until I get the pesky glasses I just won’t do a long trip anywhere!I bought a travel journal from the Works to plan day trips, weekend outings and maybe a holiday somewhere to make sure I don’t just stay in and ‘wish’ I was doing these things, I’m determined to start getting out and about more!I’m also going to start going to bed earlier , I keep saying it but somehow I find it harder than it should be, so after I have finished this I am going to bed whether I want to or not 😴😀

Freedom AND a fridge/freezer in one day! Great news. I can understand you getting the glasses for driving, could save you headaches even if you are technically okay without. And the travel journal is a very nice idea: be sure to let us know where your adventures take you!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

In my teens I wore glasses and I learnt to drive wearing them. I then stopped needing glasses for 25+ years but even now I sometimes get in the car and do my checks and something doesn't feel right, it's that I'm not wearing glasses. I used to have a pair with clear lenses so I wasn't distracted by that feeling.
Could the 2nd pair of glasses be tinted so you can wear them as sunglasses? I find I need sun glasses more when driving in the winter than the summer, I think it is due to the sun being lower in the sky and it shining off the wet roads.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
