How very frightening. I hope she's soon well enough to be home, and you can all get some rest meanwhile.
I'm delighted your eyes are doing so well, though.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’m sorry to read of your granddaughter being so ill and hope that she gets well soon. It’s great that you could look after her big sister and help her to have a nice time despite the worry. You are so obviously a lovely mother and grandmother 💐2

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts about my newest dgd.
it all happened so quickly but she came home today, the apnea hopefully won’t happen again, it was a virus in her lungs , they were able to isolate and treat it. My dd and partner were so worried as she was going floppy, blue and unresponsive but then coming out of it, she took her to the drs and she had a ‘turn’ there and they acted so quickly and got her to hospital straight away, thankfully. They had the best treatment and can’t the fault the nhs. Dd can only think she caught it off her big brother or sister who have had colds and was unable to kick it into touch being a newborn. Thankfully she’s on the mend now,£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund4 -
How terrifying. She must be a little toughie though. I'm so pleased she's home.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today I haven’t been able to get my act together, this hour business has put me right out of sorts, I was going to have my tea at ten to four!!! And for some reason I’m really tired, I even fell asleep this afternoon for half an hour whilst the pup was asleep on my feet 😂 and it’s been so quiet outside as well, almost to the point of being eerie!Anyway, tomorrow I’m going into the city to make my eye appointment hopefully for this week 😀 and I may have a look around in some shops but lots of the shops are closed now and it’s only a small city! So not much really to see. No M&S, BHS, Wilkos , even the Body shop has closed, they all seem to have moved to the retail parks - well not BHS or Wilkos but you get my drift.
I sorted my budgets out and I should be ok with the food budget as long as I am careful with what I spend and cook. I still have plenty of veggies in the freezer, potatoes and onions in the cupboard and the usual bits in the cupboards and I should be ok buying milk and a few other bits I may need along the way, so all is not lost, and the money I found stays intact😂
So this morning I put a veggie spaghetti Bol in the slow cooker and there was enough for tea and two more meals and had poached eggs on toast for lunch. I might have to look into making sw friendly cakes/puds etc if I fancy something sweet. Which reminds me it’s a taster session at fat club on Wednesday, I’ll have to see if I can make something, I usually make some veggie scotch eggs and I know I have the right sausages in the freezer so I might make them again….That’s me for today, I’m still so tired I might have to have another early night . Thanks again for your kind comments

I still miss BHS badly - especially at the moment as I could do with some new bed sheets and they were always good for that. My town has no shops to really interest me anymore - M&S closed a few years ago now, and Debenhams, which was the last remaining department store, has obviously gone as well. There are plenty of nail bars, vape shops, betting shops and very expensive coffee shops, interspersed with a few charity shops which get a year's reduced rent. My visits are mainly limited to dentist or optician appointments, and to be honest if I could get on another dentist's NHS list (no chance!) I would probably stop going except for an annual eye check - although there are other options for that. The council have even decided to spend a fortune upgrading the market square so the traders have been temporarily relocated to a spot which is not easy to get to without transport - so no good for me since I had to give up driving and rely on the bus. Quite a few traders have just shut up their stalls altogether. It's very sad.
I think you do really well allocating your money and planning your meals, and being such a support to your family. Glad the newest member is hopefully on the mend.6 -
dreaming - I forgot our Debenhams had closed as well, I used to love having a wonder around there at Xmas time, sadly no more. Unfortunately the dentist I use, which was nhs has decided to change to private and the cost per month is one I can’t afford. I don’t mind travelling a few miles for a nhs one but it’s getting ridiculous trying to find one, it’s all very sad really I can understand why people say the nhs is ‘broken’ but it’s always been there when it has been needed by my family for serious illnesses. The allocating of funds to’pots’ is one I had to learn the hard way when I got myself out of debt a fair few years ago and I am determined never to return to it especially as I’m an oap. My debt wasn’t very big, only in the hundreds but I didn’t earn vey much so it took me quite a time to clear it and build them up, but thank you£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund4

Dentist charges are horrendous. Our nhs dentist is moving to private and no nhs dentists anywhere. There are going to be many people who will not be able to afford a dentist at all. As pensioners we can’t.
