kayannie - i used to call in Lids for shopping but never managed to get a veg box. I pick mine up tomorrow so if I will see if can make full use of it.
I used to have a seasonal caravan in North Wales, just outside Mold but sold it just before C19 as they put the site fees up too high. I love the country side around North Wales, there's always somewhere with spectacular views to go to.

Today I went out to have a look for the community veggie place I'm going to tomorrow and it was very easy to find, so on the way back i did a shop in Asda and had soup, roll and a coffee for £1 they're still doing it until March I think, for us oldies!
I'll have to update my signature in the morning as I'm in bed with what I spent! But I got all the usual, milk, yogurt, bread flour etc I bought a pot of cream for a recipe, so what is leftover will get turned into some butter. I really fancied some shredded wheat but put that back when I saw the price, I'll be sticking to porridge and hm granola 🙂

Well done on getting the payment. That’s fantastic news. You should have splashed out on some shredded wheat, it’s still a low value treat in the scheme of things and you don’t go wild very often 😋Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

kayannie said:Only just caught up & seen that you've received your COL payment. Well done! I'm very envious of your access to free/cheap food as there's nothing at all like that where I live in North Wales. However, there is a L!DL in my nearest town (10 miles away) & if I get there early enough, I can usually pick up a £1.50 fruit & veg box. It's not worth making a special journey in the car though, & although I could go by bus (using free bus pass), I have a long way to walk home with heavy shopping bags once I get off the bus.

kayannie - i have a shopping trolley and do use it occasionally, but like you the walk home from the shops is all uphill and the final bit to my house is like mount Everest, well that is what it feels like anyway!!

So today I went to collect my veggie box and in it were potatoes, carrots, an onion, a large bag of lovely grapes, 2 pears, an orange and 2 satsumas, I think the amount of grapes I had was well over £4 worth.
Anyway there were also some freebies there so I picked some bread, a punnet of plums, some garlic, a pepper and a few other bits. I then went down into the village/small town into the cs and picked up a skirt and blouse a further £4.50 spent! So quite a spendy day like yesterday, so no more spending until I get paid next week. My signature has been amended but the clothes come from a different budget and the one below shows only food spending. This year I am tracking all spending to see where my money has been spent.
I'm feeling very tired today and have a bit of a sore throat and a cold sore appearing, must be a bit under the weather, I have nothing on for tomorrow so may have an 'easy' one resting up.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund6 -
Fell asleep for an hour this afternoon, my throat still hurts but not as much as yesterday but my glands are swollen, I'm sure I'll survive and I feel much so much better tonight.
Consequently I haven't been out anywhere or done an awful lot. I did manage a shower and hair wash though and cooked a potato and leek bake that was quite soft to eat.
Thats about it really, made a lemsip about an hour ago and it's kicked in and my throat and head are feeling 'cured'!! So I will go to bed before it all wears off. 🙂£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund6 -
