Thanks Winterwarrier & cbsexec thanks both I'm fine today, dgs wasn't too well last week so I gather I caught it off him🙂£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0

So the last few days as I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself, I haven't really been anywhere, doing anything other than go from the bedroom, downstairs and back up again!! 😀 So had a really good catch up on sleep and TV watching! Oh and started a jigsaw, read a book and even did a little xstitching (albeit slowly).
So today I'm back to normal things, I'm at DDS with dgs, we've just finished playing with moon sand making ramps for one of his tractors to do down and I'm just going to make us a drink and 'something' for a snack as he doesn't want to go out for a baby Chino and chippies.🙁 It's lovely and sunny here but still cold so I'm quite happy to stay in and 'play', and obviously take advantage in quieter periods 😀
Tomorrow is pay day, so I'll be shifting it all around into pots, menu planning and hopefully having a quick visit to the allotment to get some pots and a small bag of compost so I can start seed planting in a few weeks time, it's still too early here to start sowing seeds but I can sort pots etc out. Eldest DD and I sorted a plan out for the lottie, but I will be getting my garden tidied up first, I'm going to make a couple of simple small raised beds to grow some salad stuff in, and sort buckets out for new potatoes and carrots. So I'll have to buy some compost and I'll have to involve eldest dgd or sil to come with me for the lifting!!!! I love it when the growing season starts.
So thats me for today, off to make us a drink and snack 😀£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund3 -
Glad to hear that you have got the payment , it all helps. I’m catching up as I thought I was spending too much time in front of the screen and made a big effort to get into the garden and clear the weeds around where my early bulbs are coming up. Sunny here but cold and icy winds.Keep safe!2

The quickest raised bed I ever made (for lettuces, & later strawberries) was an old wooden drawer. Mr F punched the base out & I just put it on a veggie bed & filled it with a mixture of soil, our garden compost & bagged. We got a good 3 or 4 years out of it before it rotted.
I've sown my chillies because I always do them on the last day of January, but they're in my little heated propagator indoors as our greenhouse has no heating. I've sorted my other seeds into envelopes with the sowing month written on the front, so at least it feels like Spring is coming.

retiredinfrance - i know what you mean about screen time. It was on my 'intention' list in the new year to spend less time on the internet etc. Hours can go by without realising.

foxgloves - i like the idea of using drawers etc for a small raised bed I'll be keeping my eyes open and asking about. I follow a lady on yt who uses divan bed bottoms but they will be to big for where I want them.
I grew chillis a couple of years ago and they did so well and I don't even eat them 🤣£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund2 -
Just lost a long post to sausage finger syndrome I think 🤣 and as I'm sitting dgs tomorrow and have to be up early (for me anyway) I think I will finish this post tomorrow.

Hope you manage to find some old drawers to repurpose for your raised beds, @nannygladys, as they're such a simple (& free!) way to do it..My friend grew chillies one year & did really well with them, but she doesn't eat them either. She grew them for drying, so she could make a wreath.

winterwarrior - potatoes chitting in egg boxes on a window sill and planted some garlic cloves that were sprouting at the back of a cupboard😀 that's it so far, but I will start in earnest in a couple of weeks!
