Bonne anniversaire, Mademoiselle! Enjoy your champers xx
Kaz, we all have different coping mechanisms. Mine is to face everything head on, expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen. I think you're right that your OH is trying to ignore his illness. And maybe watching the footie together *will* be more important than talking to each other on Wednesday evening - he might need a day or two for the information to sink in and to start processing it. Harder for you, but if that's the way he is, you have to run with it.
Hmmm, asb - the downside of keeping poultry!
I dug a few dandelions and thistles out of the wild border alongside the drive, and threw some mixed seeds out to (hopefully) fill the gaps. The poppies have been beautiful.
3 loads of washing were hung out but didn't dry very well, so they are getting a very quick tumble before I hang them in the bathroom to air properly.
Rosie has had her walk and eaten her tea.
I have done a minimum of admin so far, but I've got 1.5 hours peace now, as DH is in a Z000m committee meeting. I have commandeered the zapper and will be watching LLF at 9.
Wishing everyone - especially Fayolle - a peaceful night xx

Bonne anniversaire, Mademoiselle 🎂
Paid stuff for a long day, wm x 1 of towels on before I left, DH hung it out so it dried, which was good as it has been raining since about 6pm. HHI done this evening, after cooking an excuse for a pie for dinner.
I’ve cut DH’s hair so he can go into the office tomorrow for a rare visit without scaring others too much.
I need to make a list for tomorrow. Lots of jobs that I need to remember to do, in between anything that DD might be dreaming up for me.10 -
Good evening everyone. Please count me in for this week, although I have spent most of the day waiting for my courtesy car to be delivered.
Today I have:- Put food out for the birds
- Applied for a couple of freelance jobs
- Completed required freelance work
- Chased up the receipt for recovery truck expenses
- Printed paperwork and updated accounts
- Listed some old textbooks for sale, as I no longer need them.
- Waited for the courtesy car to be delivered and then went for a run to experience the car.

Happy birthday Mademoiselle.
So much for the NHS carefully checking my info - had an email first thing saying I had passed the check......even though my NHS name is not the same as the one on my passport.......really? I don't know whether to be relieved or cross. There are many, many things the NHS do brilliantly but seemingly this app is not one of those. I think as soon as we're not isolating I will go down to the surgery armed with passport and birth certificate and hope they can re-spell my name in the NHS records. Rant over.
Not achieved as much as I wanted today.
The report will be finished within an hour.
Mr N did his Covid test.
We did the c& c from Mr T.
Watered a few plants.
Filled the bird feeders.
Had a long chat with my mum, who is cross with the holiday company, NHS and everyone else who assumes that all people own a smartphone and can do everything in life by app. Reassured her that actually she is capable of doing the app on her tablet ("just as well - lot of my friends don't even have a computer and think I'm wonderful for 90").
Picked the first lot of mange tout peas for dinner.
Delivered the online lesson.
So where did all the time go? Must do better tomorrow.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11 -
Morning all
Narc0, I think you achieved loads. And your mum sounds amazing.
I have made a list. It’s deceptively not very long, but will probably not all get done unless I start to move a bit faster.
I seem to have managed to pick and mix a few jobs from yesterday’s and today’s level 1 over the past couple of days, which is surprising. The wm is on atm, and for some reason it is sunny, when the forecast as of last night was torrential rain all day today.2nd cuppa had, small job done for work, I had better look at my list.
Hugs, sticks and spoons all round xx10 -
Morning all. I'm popping in to join this week - need some accountability for keeping on top of the house stuff so I don't end up spending my Saturday's doing everything like I have over the past few weekends...
So far today I've put the towels and bathmat on for a wash and scrubbed the toilet as well as sorting the laundry from yesterday ready to be put away later once the last bit has dried and also completed an upper body workout. After a day of the paid stuff I will also need to:
- Return library books and collect new ones
- Finish cleaning the bathroom
- Empty bins
- Reset kitchen after dinner
- Delete 100 emails
- Sort one bin in Kallax unit
Thanks for the list Valli, hope everyone has a good day and it isn't too wet where you are (it's currently chucking it down here!)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201712
