Worcester Bosch 28i boiler banging noise

  • We had a horrific experience with our boiler - 15 years ago
We had an ancient Valient boiler in our kitchen that was playing up - we had a British Gas service contract and called our an engineer - he couldn't find anything wrong and left - it was November and we put the heating on - then at about 8pm, there was a loud bang and darkness, we lost power.
By light of a torch - we went to have a look at the mangled mess on the kitchen wall - the boiler had literally exploded
I turned off the water and checked the fuse box - which had cut out and phoned BG who at first refused to reattend, telling us to leave it until the morning - I read them the "riot act" and eventually they came out and cleaned up the mess and got power back on
Evidently a safety pressure relief valve had become stuck and the pressure built up and BANG !
BG were not very good so we went elsewhere and had a Worcester 28i fitted - which has been faultless since then (and serviced by a local engineer)
  • BG turned up with the spare part. Was a little bit of plastic that looks like a headphone ear bud. Wasn't what he was expecting as there was no image of it on his screen when he odered it. He phoned Worcester bosch who confirmed it was the right part.
Anyway, this part is right at the back of the boiler, so everything dismantled and turned out it was the wrong part.
New part ordered, which is a spring loaded valve which he was able to see an image of on his tablet, also they are going to order and replace the return manifold as well.

So that will be a new diverter valve, new pump, new spring loaded valve and new return manifold. Hopelly that will solve it when the part arrives! Certainly getting my moneys worth for £99!

Did this little piece of plastic look like this ?

    That's the one!
That's the bypass which is probably what the fault was but it's located in the middle not the back, changing the manifold would have changed this as well hence you no longer have a problem
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
