Worcester Bosch 28i boiler banging noise

It does sound diverter valve or pump related but it would be interesting to see what WB have to say. Once it stops being intermittent and becomes permanent it should be a doddle to sort.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1

No joy with Worcester Bosch unless they came out to have a look.Had British Gas back out again today, engineer was very good. He changed the diverter valve, but still no joy. He thinks it's the pump as it's shutting down, so has ordered one and will be coming back next Thursday to replace it. Fingers crossed!0

I take it you have a contract with BG so changing these parts isn't costing you anything?
They'll sort it eventually but if you can run a hot tap for say 2 or even 5 mins and it does not make the noise then as soon as you turn the tap off it bangs then it suggests the pump is ok but the power to it is being cut prematurely and the overrun is not happening. When you turn a tap off (or even when the CH reaches it's target temperature) the flame is shut down and the pump should run for a few seconds (overrun) to take the residual heat out of the heat exchanger.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.2 -
Sounds like it's happening as the boiler modulates the heat output down from the initial maximum to a lower value, so perhaps the modulating gas valve1

The enigneer did seem very knowledgable and was quite surprised that the other two hadn't been able to solve the issue. He's coming back himself on Thursday as he wants to see the job through, which is good. He said it seems to be coming from the pump as it's powering off - there is also a single noise when it's powering up.Had the British Gas home service plan included for free when I switched my energy to them. All it will cost is the £99 excess. All parts and labour and included!3

Tbh, exactly how old is the appliance ? There are serial marks barcodes underneath.
Sorry to say purchasing a property and the boiler goes tech is just another problem, some buyers have a heating/plumbing survey.
10 year is the lifespan for many appliances, expert service during that time may increase the lifespan but you really need a local service tech to maintain it.
Everyone knows why,

Everyone knows why,Boiler is 11 years old. Worcester Bosch in my last place was 13 years old and still going strong.Apart from this issue, the boiler is in tip top working condition. Not sure what the point of your post is to be honest.0 -
In a bizarre way , this thread has somehow solved a problem I was having in the winter.
I don't think I should start a thread of my own , as I'll explain more ..
I have the same model as the op's . It was brand new replacing the old combi boiler in March last year .( just got it done pre Covid ).The boiler is in my small bedroom opposite kitchen .
Now here's the strange issue I had ; When relaxing in the living room in the winter a few months ago , I heard random bangs . I thought it was coming from the cupboard in the kitchen and that a mouse may have got in from somewhere ..
Now after reading this thread and watching the video here , it turns out I have / had the same issue as the op! It is clear thankfully that there wasn't a mouse . I left poison down and that was untouched .I had my boiler serviced under guarantee by actual Worcester Bosch engineer in March
It is guaranteed for 6 more years and although it is more expensive for annual service, I will be using Worcester engineer annually for my own piece of mind .The engineer did replace a part but I cannot remember now , but it's easy to locate if you want me to mention it here .Anyway, thanks for the thread and hope the op gets sorted1 -
Engineers report; All ok - replaced right hand hinge . ( I think that's what the writing says ):1
