Yes, I understand the v. low ongoing PAYG costs but how do you obtain a "data reward sim" without paying Three £10?alanjones60 said:No. Its payg. No need 2 pre load sim. Ucan put as little as £2 on using the website. I no its payg,as iv been on it since 2017,using it in my fone. Im a low user,so its ideal for me. Only used £10 of credit last year. I only top up when my credit gets low0

I just ordered mine, and just added credit on website. You dont have to pay £10 before you recieve it. Unless things av changed since i had mine.0

Just for clarity to the original poster, although it is called a 3 Data Reward SIM, and it is marketed to be used in a data only device, it works perfectly in a normal mobile phone. You will be able to receive calls as you do now. You will be able to make calls and send texts exactly as you do now.
Two things you need to confirm:
1st - that your phone is UNLOCKED - you say you are on Virgin (which uses Vodafone). When you order the free SIM (no need to pay £10), you will put the 3 SIM in your phone - if you get a message like "SIM NOT RECOGNISED" it will mean your phone is locked to Vodafone network - it may be easy to unlock though.
2nd - your phone must be capable of at least being able to receive 3G. If you have an older phone, the 3 SIM will not work. Even an iphone 4 will work, but a Nokia 6300 (nice little brick phone) will not.
I think the new rates for 3 are 10p/minute for calls and 10p for texts. I only ever use mine for data with one of their bundles - I do know rates changed in February buy maybe not for the data SIMs ?

I can confirm the data sim did not change, although three sent a text saying it would change in febuary. But as of today still 3 2 1 rates. Whereas the normal 321 sim did change0

Link please. Also, since it is marketed as a data-only device, would it be possible to PAC a number to it?merchcon55 said:When you order the free SIM (no need to pay £10),0

Thanks, I went to their mobile home page and the PAYG was tucked away under the 'discover' tab, so didn't notice it at first. Looks quite quite good, thanks again.gavinbaxter said:Not sure why you think ASDA require a monthly fee. They do have monthly bundles for purchase but they're not required. Their PAYG page is here https://mobile.asda.com/pay-as-you-go. Giffgaff PAYG is much the same but their rates are more expensive (25p/min calls, 10p/text). They use the O2 network.0

If you can get an o2 payg classic sim card from eBay you'll pay the following (you can't get it from o2 direct as they no longer provide it directly).- Calls are 3p a minute.
- Texts are 2p.
- Data is 1p a MB.
- Calls to customer service are free of charge
- Calls to Voicemail are 3p a call.

Yes, you can port a number to it just like any other mobile number.gavinbaxter said:

As said the 3 data reward is probably the cheapest option (£0, 200MB a month)
Registering can be a pain but once done 200MB free every month no charge, min top-up is £2 if you need anything extra.

While it stays on the the 321 rates remains the cheapest PAYG as far as I can tell.
Next I think is O2 classic off eBay I have one of those alongside my 3 data SIM move my regular 3 number when rates went up
 That needs £10 top up.
I like O2 they message you when you spend.
Next if you do use mins and text is probably the sky mobile not PAYG £42 for 3 years with 100MB a month that rolls over.

Asda PAYG has recently changed over from EE to Vodafone, so your current phone (even if locked) should work with the ASDA SIM as Virgin is also Vodafone. Unless things have changed since the move to Vodafone (I have not checked) you could previously load with as little as £1.0
