EON Massive bill?

Your bill from Eon should explicitly state the opening reading, what does it say? I'm asking the question just to be absolutely sure we know where we are.mikejay said:Today I got my 1st bill and it says I have used 4510kw of electric since 18th of march

This graphic explains what happens when a switch is initiated:Note that the reading that you provided goes through a validation process (New Supplier Metering Agent). The validated reading is then passed to the the Old Supplier Metering Agent and to your new supplier. If both suppliers have used the same reading then you have either underpaid your old supplier for energy used and you will overpay your new supplier or vice versa. The key thing here is that the energy has been consumed and the only additional cost/saving to you is the difference in unit prices.0

And this is my closing bill
You can see they estimated it when they swapped me over to there own standard tariff but then it is back to smart meter reading?0 -
There are two possibilities:
- BG consistently derived the wrong smart meter reading (so their estimates were wrong also).
- Your meter jumped forward at the time of handover.

If your Final Bill with BG has been estimated then this was an estimate provided by the New Supplier Metering Agent which does not have access to your smart meter data. They will have arrived at this estimate based on validated data from the Old Supplier’s Metering Agent. Yes, clearly something has gone wrong in the switch process and you can ask for an Agreed Readings Dispute. However, this most likely will result in a higher opening/closing reading: you will pay BG more and you will end up paying E.oN less. My concern is that you are trying to suggest that your meter may be indexing incorrectly: that is one heck of a jump for what is a switching process error. You have clearly used more energy with BG than you have been billed for.1

Is the meter serial number on your not-so-smart meter meant to match the one on the bill? I can't see it clearly on the photograph but think they may look different - were you paying against someone else's smart meter? Just reread and see the pic you posted was the type of meter, not yours - so of course the serial numbers are different! But worth checking yours if you haven't.

As far as I know, Octopus is the only supplier that uses a single register for billing for its ToU tariffs: this is normally the R1 register. It is possible that switching the meter from R1 to just R2 can cause issues. When Octopus changed from R1/R2 metering to just R1 20 months ago, my SMETS2 meter displayed R1 only and Total Import could not be accessed on the meter: however, the Total Import reading was still accessible on the IHD. Octopus had remote access to all index readings.
This is clearly Agreed Readings Dispute terrority. I would raise a complaint IN WRITING with E.oN using past BG bills as evidence of previous billing and ask them to raise an ARD. This should be resolved pretty quickly.
