  • You're welcome, they're capable of cutting something the size of an aspirin into quarters so should easily deal with anything bigger. Lloyds chemist also sell them.

I seem to recall you posting in the past relating to the detrimental size of some Glucosamine tablets. We have found the same problem with the Glucosamine + Chondroitin and the Glucosamine 1000mg from Simply Suplements,
Hello there. Yes this topic did come up in the past, as my wife found it difficult. We have been using a combination of 500mg Gluco/MSM & Chondroitin from Healthspan, taking 2 of these plus a further 500 mg of just Glucosamine (from same source). I Think cutting up tablets will just give sharp edges & crushing them, not for me!. However the best solution is with ZipVit who do a Glucosamine Liquid (Joint Genie) and also a combination of Glucosamine & Chondroitin Liquid. Products are Ref. A174a (3 for 2)
and A217 for the combination (4 for 3). This is a link to the correct page:

  • I agree with theloft. A question as to the safety of a particular medicine is not appropriate here.
And a statement that it is safe is, in my opinion, medical advice.

I will add that my GP won't prescribe it as he doesn't think it is efficacious, and although I have taken it it had no discernible effect.

Well that's your opinion and mine is that if it is scientifically proven that the TOXIC UPPER LIMIT of a vitamin or supplement is x then that is a statement of what the TUL is.

If medical opinion chooses a different TUL then that is a medical advice and can be ridiculed if necessary.

If it is quite clear the medical authorities can't be bothered to keep up to date with the latest medical research then I think it is entirely appropriate that those people who do follow the research, ridicule those who are too lazy to keep themselves properly informed.

If you go out in the sun tomorrow at midday naked you will in 10 minutes make six times the TUL of cholecalciferol VITAMIN D3.
Will you drop down dead after 10 minutes naked sun exposure at noon?
Will you suffer any adverse health consequences from 10 minutes full body sun exposure?
The Toxic Upper Limit for Vitamin D 3 is totally lucridous and anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or totally ignorant.
This isn't medical advice. Medical advice is totally wrong when it comes to vitamin d. As the medics can be seen proved and found guilty of getting it totally absolutely completely wrong on vitamin d, and the same on vitamin c whose to say they aren't completely and absolutely wrong with everything else they pontificate on.

It seems to me that there are some people here who would say publicly that the Emporer's New Clothes are absolutely wonderful even though they knew privately that the situation was laughable.

Try keeping yourself up to date by reading the latest research at Pubmed

Glucosamine/chondroitin are used to treat osteoarthritis which is a different condition. They are to help rebuild cartilege not improve tendons.
Common Overuse Tendon Problems: A Review and Recommendations for Treatment
Lists various treatment options. You may like to know that omega 3 acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and you may prefer this insteat of NSAIDs as it has other benefits to your mental/heart health which NSAIDs don't.
There is good evidence that vitamin d also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Certainly it helps with muscle pain and like the omega 3 had other benefits to your immune system and also offers increased protection against numerous cancers so isn't money down the drain if it doesn't improve the Tennis Elbow pain. Sunshine is a fee source of vitamin d until October-March. Codliver oil is a good source of vitamin d& omega 3 but really you need 2tsps of the liquid variety rather than capsules or you won't get an effective amount. This research tells you how much vitamin d you actually use each day Vitamin d3 Cholecalciferol is the most effective, least toxic form of vitamin d 70% more effective than D2 ergocalciferol offered by some firms.
