I'm just worried that I'm running out of midwives! I understand that I'm not the most pleasant of people whilst in childbirth
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
DS #1 - induced when 2 weeks overdue (after 23 years I can still see the doctor walking towards me with that crochet hook in his hand).
Didn't want that again, so when DS#2 and DS#3 went over their due dates, took castor oil and within 6 hours each time, labour started.0 -
whats a sweep - its like being violated with a marrow. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

my youngest was 10 days late and I had a sweep (they manually try to seperate the membranes, and it BL**&Y hurts) 24 hours later my waters broke all over my new sofa.:A I WILL NOT USE MY SWITCH CARD:A0

I was given chemical induction exactly on my due date due to medical problems, they are supposed to give you 3 pessaries...i had 2 and they said they wouldn't bother with a 3rd, doh. Ended up having my waters broken, wasn't as bad as i thought. I've heard sweeps are painful to bigging up those ladies that endured them. However my midwife said don't use castor oil, it can make the baby poo itself while its still in the womb which can lead to all sorts of nasty infections before birth. xx0

Don't always need three! Quite often only one is needed to ripen the cervix enough for an ARM, or to start contractions.
As for the post above, then a waterproof sheet will be cheaper than a new matress.0 -
oooh a pee sheet! hope theres some kind of warning before they go just incase. dont want to have to swim out of bed!
(am having mild pains atm. probably BH again though)There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
I swear I will never let a doctor near me again to perform a sweep. It was the most painful experience of my life and he couldn't even finish it. Imagine amazingly sharp pains in your most tender of areas whilst lying on a bed with your knees apart and your bum propped up on a pillow. I would much rather stick it out for another couple of days then have to go through that again.
Being booked in for an induction seems to work with quite a lot of overdue women. I know of loads including myself who went into labour less than 24 hours before going in to be induced."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0
