Thanks Matt I will go and have a look (not sure what Quidco is) cheers
It is a cashback site, like TopCashBack and others. In theory you get money back for spending on sites, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not, some sites jack up the cost to cover it. Worth keeping an eye on, especially for utilities, insurance etc.

  • Just avoid TalkTalk and its awful customer service!

Another thing I would add about BT if you are particularly price conscious is that they have in their contracts a commitment to jack up their prices over time, e.g. "The monthly price for your broadband plan will increase each year from March 2022 by the rate of inflation (the Consumer Price Index rate, published in January each year) plus 3.9%." On the other hand, at least they are being relatively up-front about it.

Zen are more expensive generally, but they commit to no price increases.

Thank you bjammer123, from what I have uncovered it seems like the majority of people who have FTTP on the Openreach network are using BT as their ISP.

Don't forget, if you go BT pay for line rental all at once (12 months upfront) to make another saving. Brings the total cost down.

But you have to pay for the  rental of the line FTTP or ADSL .  . No need to use a phone .

Thanks JJ I'm not too bothered about a landline as I have a mobile phone for calls, landlines are being phased put on copper wire anyway.

Yes but likely BB will include a rental charge for the FTTP cable instead .

Let's rephrase the landline comment and call it the physical connection between the exchange and your property. You have to pay for that to get the internet to your house whether it is openreach or Virgin cable. They call it a landline.
