I've sold the most expensive auction item which now means I have recovered all the money I spent. There will be some profit as I still have a few items left. This sale was extremely timely as we've just got the summer water bill. I did start a pot for the next bill in February but it's very low atm so was going to raid the EF/other pots for this one.
Not feeling great at the moment, not sure if it's the weather, Mr being a grumpy grump, mid-month slump... It's my birthday soon but I can't get excited.

Payday tomorrow, I did my numbers today and this month I have paid just over 1k of my debts.

Next month will be quite a bit less as I have started counselling, Boy1 started horse riding, Boy2 swimming and soon wants to start piano lessons as well, so we will be spending more. Gas and electricity is going substantially up next month, I have been underpaying for months. I knew I was, I just didn't do anything about it and now the time has come to pay it back.

I've just bought some more stuff from the auctioning website. I spent a lot less than last time! There was a pair of shoes I really wanted and I just thought I'd grab some more items to make the delivery fee worth it. One of them is a weighted hula hoop, I always wanted one. Oh, and a medical book which goes for crazy prices online, I don't know if anyone is buying them but if I manage to sell it for even less than the going price I will have paid for the whole lot.

It was my birthday this week, we went to a seaside town and had a long walk along the water followed by an enormous seafood lunch. We're both off this week and I had the genius idea to paint two rooms. It was a lot of work, mostly done by MrJ, but the house looks so much better now, the walls were dirty and full of kids paintings :grimace:

I am not very active commenting here but I keep an eye on my bookmarked diaries, I'm usually so late reading them there's no point commenting about something said 4 pages bacl

Payday again. This month my debt went down by £1108, more than I expected but that's because my mum sent us some aoney again. I have to accept it, she threateans me she'll give it to the church otherwise. We do plan to start building a nice pension pot for her soon, she's always thinking about us, never about her.

Husband is starting a new job next month which will bring considerable extra income so things should start moving faster. We want to focus on overpaying the mortgage with most of that extra, our fixed term ends in about 18 months and we want to get the LVT as low as possible, definitely under 80%, ideally under 75%, so we can get a better deal next time.

I think I have developed anauction addiction! :flushed: I have won a couple more lots this last month. All the ones I got so far were profitable, but I really need to stop. It's taking too much of my time and I don't really have that much too begin with.

My credit card debt is now around £12600, Id love to get it under £10k byt Christmas. That's my short term goal now.

I hope you have a lovely week!

Back for my monthly check in, I've had this page open since the 27th but things got in the way - work, the boys have been home as well for half term, and I'm also on another health kick so I'm spending more time on other websites/forums. My bandwidth is severely limited

Last month my debt went down by £937. The emergency fund has increased as well, mostly due to switching a current account and getting the incentive. We've had to buy a new cooker and change a tyre but luckily husband got a bonus and we were able to cover them without touching the EF. The bonus was enough to cover a few hundreds more on a CC and pay for the boys' citizenship applications - incredibly expensive at just over £1k each considering they have 0 income.

It's just nice to see the figures reduce isn't it? Still a way to go on mine and need to readjust the budget to reflect more days commuting for MrM and for me from January.

  • Just read through after seeing you comment on other diaries I follow - you’re doing so well!  On the auction thing maybe stop buying any more now until the new year, then you can take a view on whether it is something you want to continue with or not? I imagine that like most of us you’ll have a busy-ish time over Christmas so probably adding listing stuff and having to pack up parcels etc to that might not be ideal!

Thank you everyone! @EssexHebridean I haven't bought anymore in auctions and I have unsubscribed from their emails. Like you say, it takes a lot of time but also space, I have some to shift still and I would really like to clear the loft and garden room.

In the meantime I started doing matched betting after reading about it in another diary. I made £135 in the first week! It does take some time as well but it's something to keep me busy during the month between payday/paying debts.

Tomorrow is payday so I did my numbers and this month I paid £1473. More than usual due to husband's bonus last month.
