Conservatory has been cleaned - found lots of dead moths, no live ones or babies. 🤔

Once again I have been reminded of how much fabric I have. 😳

Things are happening. Mr and I have separate finances and last week he confessed he is not doing well. All I cand say is thank god I spend so much lurking around here and I know not to take on a secured debt to pay an unsecured one (this is the solution he was thinking about) and that a DMP is not the end of the world. My credit rating will be affected but it's not like I want any more credit. I'll have to see what I do when my BT 0% ends, I might have to pay them down rather than keepmoving them.

I do worry about it though, I hope he can stick to a budget and build a good EF, because if anything happens we will not be abel to borrow anything. We will have to discuss periodic check ins.

Child#2 had an eye test and needed new glasses. For all my budgeting and millions of pots, I did not have one for glasses. 🥴 I paid out of a different one and will refill it slowly over the month with survey/mystery shops/free spins money. Mr will also contribute towards it at the end of the month.

Sorry to hear of your OHs troubles. Hopefully with a logical solution and someone to support him, it won’t be too much trouble for either of you.

Thanks @MissRikkiC , I am offering support, we're in this together and I'm happy he finally shared it with me and he seems to have had a LBM. We'll have a monthly catch up and we'll see how it goes, I am starting to be a bit more optimistic.

I didn't do my monthly updated, I was feeling a bit deflated and like what's the point, but here are the numbers for August 1st:
    CC: £9,659
Savings: £11,788 (122% of the CC balance)

The savings include the CC payment pot I set up for January which is already at 47%. I might use a bit of it before the end of the month as the boys/fun pots are very empty, it will get easier once the children go back to school.

I also have separate finances. The hardest thing I find is feeling I need to bail him out (luckily he’s debt free now, but the guilt was real when he wasn’t) and paying for the majority of big household items because I have the savings….even though we could both equally save just as much. I have to harden myself sometimes to remember all the toys he has spent money on for himself while I’ve been saving. I think if you’re like me you may feel bad about your savings pot while OH is struggling, so do remember all the sacrifices you’ve made that possibly he hasn’t. I don’t think for a minute that you’ll be pressured, but if you were it maybe better to clear your cc with your savings and then you won’t have any to hand over. I’m possibly scarred from a very bad first marriage, so I realise my ‘safety’ thinking may not apply!

Thanks WW! I have bailed him a couple of times while we were still paying down debts, but I have hardened over time and I am not doing it again. There's still room for improvement, we're both work in progress. :)

We've had a super spendy weekend, with lots of small jobs around the house, the slush fund is depleted. And the shower stoped heating the water. We changed it three and a half years ago for the same reason. It has been giving only super hot or luke warm water for half a year anyway, I don't understand why they only last a few years.😖

This summer holidays ended up being very expensive, I put £319 on the cashback CC. I could've taken money from different pots but decided this was easier to keep track of. I have already made an extra £319 to cover the statement at the end of the month - this extra money came mnostly from surveys (it was a yougov finance cash in month - £50), selling bits and a few free spins wins.

The CC pot due in January is at 77%, this was on hold for the last month but plenty of time to get to 100%. I moved these savings to the Sant and er 5.2% saver, it will make it easier to pay the CC as it's with the same bank.

Work has been very busy and energy draining over the last month but it has started to ease off.

I didn't do my monthly savings vs CC this month, things are looking good ish

    Sept 1st:
    CC: £9,459
Savings: £13,190 (139% of the CC balance)

I say good ish mainly because I don't feel great now. I'm tired and worn out and can't see the positives which I know are there.

Hi Jokono, just caught up on your diary. Excellent news on being debt neutral.

Sorry to hear MrJ isn't doing so well financially but the positives are that at least he told you and if you hadn't been lurking on here for so long, you wouldn't be able to offer the support and guidance he needs.

    Keep well
