Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Wish the media would not show photos of empty shelves. Noticed most of these photos in the past couple of days have been salads, soft drinks and ice cream.
These are among the biggest sellers during hot weather- pandemic or no pandemic.
The colleague at Lidl earlier today agreed with me and he has worked for Lidl for 7 years- at a different store at the beginning as the one he works in now has been open 4-5 years.
Though this time, it will take 2-4 days longer for stocks to fully recover as driver shortages due to being pinged.
Apart from the above categories, Lidl had 99.5% availability in other sections.
I have been told by the management at my work (different supermarket) that for the next 10-12 days, we just get forecasted delivery on frozen products. So if we normally sell 100 packs of something per week, we only get 100 packs per week. Even though we might have sold 140 packs in the previous week. So freezers will look a bit depleted for 1.5 weeks.

The only reason I can think of for perhaps not advertising the food shortages would be to prevent panic buying and the wastage then caused with fresh foods.
Or perhaps you think there isn't an issue with rapidly rising infection and therefore 'pinging' on top of the existing shortages of lorry drivers and fruit/veg pickers?0 -

It's not the first time we've had to point out that this thread is titled Good and Bad Buying.
That title was deliberately chosen so that we could discuss things like customer service or in this case shortages as well as the products sold in Aldi and Lidl.
