Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Just a little gripe -
Lidl have changed packaging for the 200g jar Belarom instant coffee.
Inside the red cap - used to be a card insert which had wax or plastic coating on one side and I used to remove the coating and put the card for recycling. Now it appears to be layers of plastic. Surely not a positive move.
Shape of glass jar - used to be circular and now square base. I decant the coffee and, when inverted to put in other container, some nestles on the flattened "shoulder" and isn't easy to free. I know this isn't much but I find it annoying. However I can see that outer cardboard casing might be reduced because of the new shape.
At least the price hasn't changed - yet.5 -
I've complained to shops before about the "glass jars with shoulders". Seems like all the peanut butter jars changed to this a few years back and it made it just about impossible to get to some of the contents.General_Grant said:Just a little gripe -

The Aldi golden coffee has had the same change, apart from the issue of getting the remaining granules out, also the lids on the square jars are hard to screw closed as they don't seat on the glass threads very easily.General_Grant said:Just a little gripe -

Looking for a bit of help here please if possible. Tesco, at least ours, seems to have delisted the block Emmental cheese, now just selling sliced or grated, incredible though that might seem.
Aldi seem to have ditched it too. Does anyone know if Lidl still sell it please, or are they only selling sliced/grated too?1 -
AFAIK, most places seem only to have slices. When I last bought a block (Christmas), I got it from Sainsburys.2

Never seen it in either.Doc_N said:Looking for a bit of help here please if possible. Tesco, at least ours, seems to have delisted the block Emmental cheese, now just selling sliced or grated, incredible though that might seem.

So much to read, so little time.2 -
Is it the store brand you are after? Because I still see the blocks of President emmental in most shops, including Tesco. Used to be able to get blocks of Leerdammer but don’t see those anymore.Doc_N said:Looking for a bit of help here please if possible. Waitrose sell their own brand blocks of emmental at £2.60 for 250g. Slightly cheaper than President (unless it’s on offer).4 -
£2.50 in Sainsburys for their own brand Emmental.3

Aldi have an Italian Special on at the moment, with 1kg of risotto rice for £2.50. This is a great price, when compared pence-per-100g with the other supermarket brands.2

Big reductions in my local Aldi today !!
