Big reductions in my local Aldi today !!
I've often had 30 to 50% off items lately in Aldi particularly on meat and fish. Yesterday it was on 3% fat cubed beef and salmon fillets which are now in the freezer.

I know not everyone can afford to stock up like this but taking advantage of these offers and shifting my meal plans a little means I rarely pay full price.

Did an instore Aldi shop this morning for the first time in 5 years. Impressive new store, on a par with any other supermarket. What really struck me though was the level of intrusion by major brands compared with the way it used to be. More brands = less space for Aldi own label. Quality noticeably superior to Tesco (we've had no option but to have Tesco deliveries) but I have to say that the price gap does look to have narrowed somewhat.

The chocolate is still a particularly good buy, and the Magnum Premium washing up liquid (not far short of the Which? best performer but very substantially cheaper).  Pretty poor selection of continental cheeses though - nothing like as good as it used to be.

There was some discussion of the price of Aldi Essentials Chocolate some while ago.   I can confirm that it was 59p/100g in my local Aldi yesterday.

Also, the Wholenut Peanut Butter was down to 99p.

But the Ice Cream Wafer Bars are up 10p to £1.99 for 8.

Glad to hear you liked the new store @Doc_N. We have both the new and older layouts locally. I'm not sure I like the veg inside fridges in the new ones but the look is very smart.

I'm definitely with you on the washing up liquid.

I agree about the limited variety of cheeses recently. I miss the gorgonzola dolce, not seen flavoured Weneslydale for ages and last week they didn’t even have Parmesan. ☹️

Might try the newish Lidl next time in the hunt for some decent cheese. I see there’s a £10 off £10 offer on the app. We always used to prefer Aldi, with the odd top up at Lidl, but in 5 years things might have changed!

We have a new "Site Acquired for Lidl" popped up recently.   It'll be interesting to see what a brand new Lidl on quite a big, prestigious plot turns out like.

Not tried it personally but the Express rated it recently Bargain supermarket ketchup is named better than Heinz - just £1.05 | Express.co.uk
