Not sure if anyone else has this at their local Lidl.
Thursday morning at 8am, Lidl now have extra large boxes of fresh fruit & veg for £1.50 at the checkout / on the packing bench, and also have nice quantities of reduced meat in the fridges.
Saving a fortune on my weekly shop! :D
It might be worth something to someone :D

I'm in Lidl at 09:30 on a Sunday and the day after boxing day and new year and head straight for the fresh meat section to see if thry have any meats reduced by 30%, 60% or more. Ont the Xmas/new year visits I normally get enough meat to last me most of the year.

Shopping in Aldi this morning 8 self-service tills and no checkout till. I asked for one to be opened which they did but it was amusing the people on the self-service were going nuts they couldn't get things to scan and how to operate them weigh the fruit etc some gave up and joined the queue behind me.PS I don't work for Aldi lol
In Lidl this Sunday I put abag a frozen peas through the self service checkout and it said assistance needed apprantly the iten wasn't registered on their system and all the people with fozen peas were having the same problem whether they went through self service or manned checkouts.

The bags I use for the weekly shop are from Carrefour, which I bought on a holiday in France many years ago. They're much bigger and better than the usual supermarket bags for life, more like the blue IKEA bags.

I also have some Tesco and Aldi bags for life from Welsh stores with Welsh writing. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
The bag I use for shopping is an Ikea bag that hold up to 25Kg, I got three for £1.85 years ago, about 2014, and bought another 5 for £5 in 2019 I still have one of the first three bags and the set of five is lying in storage unopened somewhere.

And right with you on stashing bags for life with Anything in Welsh for the bragging rights. (Some day I may learn to wrap  - til then a nice bag is a godsend!)
Lest anyone be in doubt, the peppered salami of Aldi is two thirds the price of Asda's and every bite as delicious. Assures my son, who eats the stuff much as sheep eat grass.

They all stopped it a couple of weeks ago. No more Aldi for us unfortunately.

If this means the discounted items are still with the full price ones then that's something I fully support.  It looked like that's what the manager at Lidl was doing on Friday.  Makes sense as if you're looking for sausages or whatever you can look at the full price ones and decide if you need the extra days or if you just want something to eat today or to sling in the freezer you can do so.

  • Our Aldi has never put the reductions together apart from the odd fresh produce bits in a fridge near the front but not always. Meat etc is always amongst the other items so you can make a choice and also so you aren't just jogging all the items.
