@thriftytracey sorry for your problems, but I'm glad it's not just me...I wish I lived in a fruit n veg growing area then I'd go direct.
You’d be amazed at the difference in size and quality. We ditched supermarkets altogether for fruit and veg a few months back because of the indifferent quality. We pay roughly the same price now, possibly very slightly more, but the quality is very considerably better. Much larger too. No more tiny lemons, garlic, onions etc.
I find the BiB hard to believe. Your post encouraged me to look at a local farm supplier and the prices are sky high. I am going to have to stick with Aldi TGTG boxes.

So much to read, so little time.

I absolutely get that. We live in a pretty rural area, though, and the place we go to is pretty basic - nothing remotely fancy about it, or its prices. More like a huge market stall than a farm shop, and that’s reflected in the prices.

There are farm shops - but they’re much dearer.

Onions in Aldi have been tiny, especially the 3 pack of large onions which cost 99p, they are not much bigger than in the 1kg bags. The extra large ones seemed a decent size but cost £1.40 for three. Did we have a bad crop last year especially given the price of them too.

I would love to go to basic farm supplier but as far as I know just ludicrously expensive farm shops here in Dorset. Years ago bought sacks of carrots etc from barn style shop near Gloucester, wish I still could.

Had achieved my 10% off coupon for Lidl so did a major shop there that also used up a few 50% & 20% off coupons as well.  Paid and was heading out the door checking my receipt and realised the 10% off hadn't been activated so I turned and went back to the till.  Now normally in Lidl I'm spending about £20 so I might not have bothered as I could get the same discount again in a couple of days but this was (for me) a major £70+ bill not to be repeated for at least a month.  So chatted to the assistant manager (with whom I'd had a cheery conversation earlier while shopping) and he hummed and hahhed and then said he'd need to talk to his manager and trotted off.  Came back after a few minutes and made it clear that this would be the last time they helped me out (I have form....).  And basically he just refunded a few things I bought ending up at just under £7 going back on my card - which I was perfectly happy with.

And my Lidl+ app still shows I have a 10% off coupon available for the next few days so I'll make up any difference easily.

When I asked in Lidl a couple of years ago the answer was no. May have changed but don’t recall seeing anyone using them.
