My grandfather worked for Lindt so I was reared on decent chocolate. I won't usually eat chocolate that's less than 85% cocoa and prefer 90% cocoa. My husband used to scoff Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate Buttons but now goes for 70% or 85% cocoa.

I have a bit of a weakness for Leonidas hand-made Belgian chocolate ballotins, specifically the white chocolate filled with cream. I used to nip over to Boulogne on the catamaran to buy them. One box for me, one box for my mother and one to scoff on the cat. 😉

I have wanted to try the Moser Roth dark chocolate 🍫 but any time we have looked for it, there hasn't been any 😥

Aldi's Ballycastle is on offer at £2.99 this weekend. Typically, the shelves were bare when I visited late on Thursday evening...
None in our store. Since the spirits moved to the front of the store the amount of stock is small.
The pretty / high margin spirits are on the gondola end near till 1. Did you ever look in the rear RHS of the store (other end of the same aisle)? The spirits lurk in the corner.
Nope, they've moved everything, the back corner of the shop they've padded out with extra bottles of prosecco and sparkling wine but it's all very bare bones. I dislike it now as whenever I look at the spirits people think you are waiting for the self service area.

I hardly think there'll be any left but Aldi's dark choc and coffee easter eggs are 70%, if that's of any use to anyone.

The same here with liking dark now over milk chocolate. I dread to think how much milk choc I've eaten over the years but I couldn't stomach it now. My mum used to like Bournville too, and Caramac (*bleurgh*)
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

I can just about tolerate Bourneville. The rate I'm going I shall be 80 and gummy before I appreciate 70% :D

ETA: had another nibble of this and it remains unpalatable. It's only fit for dilution in some capacity!

Warm up some cream suitable for whipping and melt the chocolate in it.  Add a bit of sugar if it tastes too dark for you.  Cool completely and then whip and spoon into suitable dishes to be eaten as mousse.

The amount of cream will depend on how much chocolate you have left.  I use about 250 ml cream to 100 g dark chocolate.  You can do the same thing with milk or white chocolate but they only need about half the cream to chocolate.

The original recipe I have is actually for a terrine where you do the 3 different chocolates and then put first the milk chocolate whipped mix into a lined loaf pan, then a layer of the white and finally the dark layer.  Cool, and then invert onto a serving dish and slice.  The original recipe also suggests that you serve it with a chocolate fudge sauce but this is so rich I think it's nicer with just a few raspberries for contrast and to look pretty.

If you can't find any Rosa remember them for next year - they really are lovely :yum:

I had one last year - absolutely agree!

I really miss the Moser Roth mousse au chocolate bars though 😢 they had dark cherry, dark orange, or white. Loved them all.

Also (completely unrelated) the share bags of onion rings / cheese puffs! They have disappeared too.

Oh aye, those mousse choc bars - they were yummy :yum: I never tried the white but the dark+cherry/orange/whatever were delicious.

  • Dulano ham - I buy this every week, the large packet and I've noticed in the past few weeks that it has got quite fatty.  I can't stand fat so I have to cut out the "fatty" area when making sandwiches.  Don't mind a few streaks but lately, as Tom Allen would say, "is not very nice"....

and isn't it the Dulano ham that's on offer right now?  possible connection...

Annoyed that twice I've been in to 2 different Lidl and they have no regular chicken thighs.  Skinned (possibly boneless, didn't check).  And just 1 in a large pack of "Southern Fried thighS & legs".
