My wife would agree with you on HP. It’s one of the very, very small number of branded food products allowed into the house. Always Aldi ketchup!Pollycat said:
We don't use a lot of brown sauce, just on the occasional bacon or sausage sandwich. But tasting 'ok' doesn't cut it for us.thriftytracey said:HP Brown sauce £2.99 in Lidl. Bramwells about 79p or thereabouts. I've thrown my receipt away now so not sure about exact price. But brown sauce tastes OK. Lidl Plus offered me a FOC Alesto product coupon this week, so I selected Alesto dried apricots. Got home and saw I had been charged (and I had made the coupon active). So, it must have been one of their nut products FOC. Check coupon more carefully!
It's one of the things we've tried down-shifting but always go back to HP.2 -
I usually buy my washing up liquid from aldi, but I thought I would give the lidl version a go, Wyx, but I was very disappointed. Lost its foaminess very quickly.

Thanks for the review. Like you, I use the Aldi washing up liquid but other Lidl products in that range are really good. I use their dishwasher tablets, rinse aid, salt and really like the descaler.rhcp said:I usually buy my washing up liquid from aldi, but I thought I would give the lidl version a go, Wyx, but I was very disappointed. I'm the same, just started the Wyx liquid and thought that too, so will not be buying it again. First cleaning item I've came across from either Lidl/Aldi that I would say that about.rhcp said:I usually buy my washing up liquid from aldi, but I thought I would give the lidl version a go, Wyx, but I was very disappointed. Polly I was the same, had to be HP. Like most its not a weekly or even monthly buy, but when I saw £2.99 I went nope, not paying it , and picked up the Lidl own brand. Its good enough - its more then good enough - 79p compared to £2.99I can not believe that something that is a staple condiment is just so bloody expensive2 -
Same here - HP. I can't think of another branded anything I've got in the house. But we only use maybe one bottle a year so I don't mind paying for it. We did try Branston brown sauce but it wasn't very nice at all.
Actually there is another branded thing - I occasionally buy those giant crumpets when I see them (Warburtons?) cos they're lovely smothered in scrambled eggs. Yum

Aldi do giant square crumpets, ideal for fried/scrambled egg on top...or just buttered😁YoungBlueEyes said:Same here - HP. I can't think of another branded anything I've got in the house. Did a click and collect from Aldi this morning for a change from the usual Tesco deliveries. I reckon I can get the fiver they charge back just on the savings on continental cheeses like Comté and Gruyère and Parmigiano - all dramatically cheaper than Tesco, and better too. Likewise breakfast cereals. Better quality fruit and veg too on this morning’s showing.2

You can never go wrong with Aldi ketchup! It is a staple.

I don't like it, far too vinegary. I like the Batt's sold by Lidl.HelloJax said:You can never go wrong with Aldi ketchup! It is a staple. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2
