Out of curiosity @Brie, does the ban only apply to fresh meat. I'm hoping to get to France in the new year and love the tins of duck confit. 🤔
It applies to anything susceptible to Lumpy Skin Disease (I kid you not) and their outputs.

Oh I believe, just am fascinated in a slightly horrified way & there are no gruesome photos here on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumpy_skin_disease

I'm most disappointed in these TRONIC batteries from the Lidl Supermarket.  Buy cheap, buy twice.

Can you clarify -- single use (alkaline) or rechargeable (NiMH) or other?
In what way are you disappointed? Did they leak? Did they not last? Do they not live up to the capacity claimed?

@maman @Brie honestly, on the French side, they don't really seem to care. Maybe they think it's the UK's issue to enforce and not theirs? That would actually make sense. We brought back canned pork cassoulet in September on Eurostar and not one word was said to us and we weren't checked in London either.

Well I was a bit nervous after our excitement last March when they didn't want to let me into the country as I didn't have a permit that I wasn't allowed to have due to my visa.  Maybe it's just the ferry companies that take notice of the rules?

@Brie touché. I could see how that would make a person jumpy. UK immigration can be a bit hostile at times.

Immigration was fine (even if they were ultimately incorrect about the information they gave me).  It was the ferry staff that was the problem as they get in trouble if they let the wrong person or one without proper documentation on board.

@Brie ah yeah that makes sense too. Do you mind me asking which ferries / ports you used? We almost took a ferry as foot passengers for our trip to France but decided to use the Eurostar like we usually do. I think we’d like to try a different mode of transportation next year for a bit of adventure. (Sorry for the derail!)

Brittany Ferries from Poole to Cherbourg and back.  Nothing finishes a relaxing holiday quite so completely as being sent back through immigration multiple times!!!
