Tbh I was a Lidl piddled off at Lidl today. The excitement in snagging a pistachio panettone was offset by the app refusing to work at the till, meaning I couldn't activate my coupons.

That sometimes happens to us, usually when we have snagged a few would be bargains. There are a few nice offers though, we did manage to get some free Lidl jaffa cakes yesterday and my wife picked up a couple of the little cocktails, the £3.25 ones in the round containers, which are quite tasty and are 13% proof.

What are Lidl jaffa cakes like ? Are they tiny (Mcvities have shrunk over the years)

In reviews, people found them better than the originals. All I know is, they are very tasty.
Don't tempt me! I have enough problems resisting sugar as it is.

I have enjoyed Lidl's discount vouchers this month and bought some stollen at 50% yesterday. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't 50% off the Lidl Card price of £3.49 but 50% off the full price of £3.99.

    Couple of questions...

Firstly, has anyone seen the stalks of Brussels Sprouts in Aldi this year?

Secondly, do we think there will be the usual vegetable price war this year, and what price do you reckon if it happens?

    Yes in Sainsburys this morning
  • Its worth looking at your Lidl Plus app to access your annual report :D

We all know they are collecting our data, at least Lidl is being upfront and offering an analysis of shopping habits and spend. I'm pleased to see my Smart Shopper score of 88% and that I have saved nearly £175 this year. On the downside I didn't realise just how many bags of hand cooked crisps I had bought  :open_mouth:

    Asda Rewards now cannot compare!

Sainsbury's via Nectar has been doing that for some time.  One year I was told I was the No 1 purchaser of their 200g jar of own brand instant coffee from my town's supermarket branch.  Not bad for a single person!  (Or perhaps it did say I was drinking too much coffee.)

Baileys (dupe) flavoured ice-cream spotted in Aldi yesterday, £2.49. Likely to be a seasonal product so will buy some as soon as I have been able to liberate some freezer space! I was challenged for taking a pic - to spread to gospel of appreciation with others - so will share evidence of the TikTok variety instead: https://www.tiktok.com/@britanihumphriesmusic/video/7433911514915949856

I also noticed their seasonal cheeses to be reduced by around 30p each. I speculate that the shelves will be cleared by Christmas Eve - the best time to aim for cut-price cheeses might be Monday or Tuesday.

thanks for the heads up on the cheap cheese.  as we're travelling we won't be able to shop for any cheese until the 24th.  wouldn't have been a problem in the past as we'd stock up in France but given the ban on meat and cheese imports by tourists we'll have to rush around the shops at the last moment when we're home.

  • The range of Christmas cheeses at Lidl is very limited, not a patch on Aldi. Will need to go out of my way to get my hands on some tomorrow.
