    MSE wisdom please.

Extra large squeezy bottle of Heinz tomato ketchup coming to an end after about 2 years, don't use much, only in sauces and when we treat ourselves to a takeaway fish & chips.

    Have boycotted Heinz, price increases.

    What is a good alternative?
Aldi own brand...Bramwell Original Tomato Ketchup much better than Heinz imho.
I like the Aldi Bramwell Tomato Ketchup and also bbq sauce and mayo too.  I wouldn't go back to the branded versions now.

Lidl Deluxe Wild Boar Pate.  Don't bother.  It was just blah!  Their regular line of pates are much nicer.
The very thought of it makes me feel queasy!

For ketchup I am happy with Batt's (Lidl), but restrict my intake as it is not a good food to eat. I read in a taste test that Lidl's own brand mayonnaise is good too, but I don't eat that.

I bought this as a treat today - a little bready so not as sweet as it could have been. No regrets in trying it: https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/deluxe-pistachio-cake/p10039438 .

Another win for Aldi - their mint Baileys dupe is very minty and extremely drinkable, like a child's milkshake in fact. The next dose I have will be 1:3 with Bailey's (dupe) and topped up with whiskey to taste...

Get yourselves down to Aldi for an incredible wine bargain - Cairanne, cru du cotes du Rhone, reduced from £9.99 to £4.99. Absolute nectar. The other really good bargain, is their Barolo at £9.99.

For anyone who likes cocktails, I'd recommend Aldi "In" Peach Colada.   It's delicious and a proper bar strength drink. £1.79.    They also do a Mango Margarita in the same range, though this seems to be harder to find.

Also recommended Lidl Pina Colada which is more of a bargain at 99p.

Only for those that like red wine! I'm on the lookout for Trivento Malbec rose - bought this at Aldi at a good price over the summer and have no regrets.

Separately - the celery at Lidl is no longer in plastic packaging, which is great for the environment and avoids the product collecting moisture. I just didn't fancy buying it though.

Has anyone spotted any Canadian wines at Aldi??  I'll make a special trip across town for a decent Niagara white.  Then again I also want some Cremant du Jura so might go anyways.  It's always been a nice celebratory tipple in the past.

I've not seen any Canadian wines but a decent Cremant de Loire in Lidl.

Aldi have a new range of frozen high protein ready meals.

I tried the Pasta & Meatballs lunch bowl variety and it was very good.   I like that the pasta has a firmer texture than typical for ready meals.   There were only three meatballs, but they were tasty and a decent size.   The sauce is rich & tomatoey.

Lidl do a rose Cremant de Loire, which we both think is better than some cheap Champagne, it is £8.99.
