  • Today I went up to London to have an appointment for a solution to my thinning hair problem as it's really getting me down now - I had to have a passport type photo taken for my new bus pass the other week and my hair looked awful - it really brought it home to me.  My hair isn't going to get any better so I have bitten the bullet and am going to get  an hair extension type solution on the crown of my head .  The initial cost is a bit eye watering (but not as much as I thought as my hair isn't as bad as some) - but my final bonus from work will cover this and the upkeep appointments cost around the same as I pay my current hairdresser. The whole thing will have to be redone every two years but I am going to have a new YNAB pot for this.  A good friend has told me that a friend of hers had had it done and never looked back.

I am sure you won't regret having it done .
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

@milann and @angela110660 - I just missed the Illegal Eagles who played our local theatre earlier this month. I wasn't aware they were playing until it was too late!  I'm going to have to get back to checking these things more regularly. Angela - I'm sorry to read you missed the real Eagles concert. Fingers crossed for another tour in the not too distant future. 🤞

@Sunshine_girl2 - thanks for the initial positive heads up (sorry for the pun) about the hair.  It did influence my decision to go for it!👍😇

Today it's quite gloomy and chilly here in Seasideville. Typical August Bank Holiday weather!🥶

I haven't been out - spoke to some friends on the phone, did some jobs around the house and have been reading and watching the box.

I also booked tickets for me and DD to see the RSC's performance in November of Hilary Mantel's third book in her Wolf Hall trilogy about Thomas Cromwell - The Mirror and the Light. We saw the first two performances a couple of years ago over two nights and they were fantastic.

DD's ticket is a belated birthday present from me. She is coming down for that weekend anyway as we are due to see the rescheduled from last year Aussie Pink Floyd concert at our local theatre on the Monday after the weekend. So we will see the matinee of the RSC performance on the Saturday and will meet up with DSis and her OH afterwards at our fave London restaurant for early dinner.

First Slimming World weigh in tomorrow morning - fingers crossed!🤞

Just the above theatre tickets today - two Premium stalls seats, booking fees and donation to RSC came to £255!  But it's DD's birthday present and a present to me from me as it's the first theatre play I will be seeing since lockdown!😉

Sounds like you have had lots of exciting things going on.  We have theatre tickets booked for Bath in October and the Royal Albert Hall in November.  First time we have been in a theatre/concert hall in almost two years.  Do you need to wear masks?

Good luck at SW.  I have been to the odd meeting over the last few months but not really stuck to it.  I just seem to maintain and it seems a waste of money to pay weekly for that especially as I am just 2 lb off my target. I should really make a concerted effort to lose that last 2lb then I would not need to pay but it just does not seem to shift.

@enthusiasticsaver - no reason why you can't just call target now and then not need to pay.  It will take the pressure off to lose that 2lb so that you are where you actually want to be and still be within target range (you're allowed 3lb either way).  I'm just out of my target so trying to lose a lb this week to get back into range so I don't have to pay!  Haven't paid for nearly 10 years and this is the first time I've been in this position and I don't like it!

Hi @enthusiasticsaver - when I went to the Palladium a few weeks ago we were told to wear masks going in and out and inside the theatre, except if we were eating and drinking whilst seated. Which virtually meant 90% of the audience!
At the local theatre on Saturday there was just a notice advising us to wear masks to respect our neighbours, but nobody followed this apart from a very small number of the audience. The audience age demographic was nearly all aged 50s upwards so everyone must have had their double jabs!
Well I lost 3.5lb at my first SW weigh in yesterday. Was slightly disappointed as I thought I might have lost more but I'm not too bothered as I'm in for the long haul.
Met my two friends afterwards for coffees and a sandwich plus a naughty small slice of lemon drizzle cake (my weekly and only cake treat).
Today I've been watching the old Agatha Christie film 'Witness for the Prosecution' . I'm having my nails done later.

I bought a veggie cookbook at SW yesterday - £4.95 plus £50p for the raffle!  Also bought some veg in Co-op that I forgot to put on my recent grocery shop.
It was also my turn to pay for lunch with my friends.
Today I'll be paying for my nails.
