I think in January we will see a larger rise than expected, the October one has gone up twice since the estimations came out from Cornwall. I can't see it coming down - it's not in big corporations favor anyway to reduce the cost, why would they when people will go into debt and pay it?

I wonder who will be footing the bill with all the jumped meters?
As a meter reader for 20 years I can say that  all the "jumped meters " will quadruple this year  and so will the subbed and reversed gas meters . Who foots the bill ? the honest payers foot the bill of course like they always have done

I can see them raising SC to compensate for this if possible as its a means of forcing more costs on those registering low usage.  But of course impacts everyone.

I used to get meter reader visits at least 4-5 times a year, but there is people I know who never had them in many years.  So they seem to concentrate on certain areas or customers?  Do meter readers just take a reading or also actually check for tampering?

The good thing is gas usage is low right now or should be for everyone and only 2 months til October and the expected 14-15p kwh price cap rate should make all on gas tracker v3 feel better.
Octopus will still not confirm to me that the recent cap changes will not be amended for all current versions of tracker come October, I am in the middle of a complaint and I really don't think they have made a decision on it yet.

I will not discuss it anymore as its probably best now the complaint is in and I have forwarded all correspondences I received stating the cap will not remain fixed for the initial 12mths.  At this stage I am still not being given a straight yes or no that Information provided to me was accurate. So we will see.

A complaint. That is a bit un-necessary in my opinion. Front-line CS staff are not well informed when it comes to Tracker and other specialist tariffs such as Agile and Go/Go Faster. These tariffs are handled by separate teams.

All these tariffs are fixed term and the Cap remains in place until the end of the fixed term - based on 4 year’s experience of Tracker; Agile, and Go/Go Faster. I am currently on Tracker Gas v1 which remains at its original Capped level.

I think a complaint is just another level of customer service. It's not an escalation to deadlock. But should be used to focus the supplier to a concise response to the questions posed if front line staff are unable to answer the same question with the same definitive answer.

I don't see the issue with this.

I did have similar feelings and was just going to let it go, but then if businesses are not called out on things like this how do processes improve. It was not just one CS agent, all gave the same message. If they were unsure or lacked knowledge then all they needed to do was refer to the other team, but to give a customer information that may or may not be correct and what you then base your decision on is wrong. Also highlighted that the tracker page is very limited in detail, caps were mentioned but nothing stating how long they would apply, it's very grey and leaves alot of guess work that should not be the case. If the cap is in place for 12mths then just say that, Agile cap was worded differently, why is that? all rather open ended and difficult for anyone of us to make the shift with confidence, I know some have taken the gamble and it's likely to pay off but if the cap was changed does anyone really think they have a case, maybe a small number who have been given some kind of confirmation but the vast majority would have nothing. There are not many businesses that could sell products with this limited amount of information and that could ultimately have financial implications for people. Some will disagree and say well go for a fix or stick to SVT so you know what your getting, I still think Octopus regardless of tariff have a duty to advertise accurately and with transparency and their CS team to give correct up to date information when requested.
